I'm not sure, isn't there always a bit of "unfinished business" between Hock and LMS. Sav will probably replace Thompson, is there anybody due back from injury (Lomax,Swift) I know Jonesy had to sit out the giants game.

No, he wasn't. But that doesn't mean he isn't fit of course.

That's down to the "saviour" of rugby league Dr Cockrash. His rash signings and listening to what fans want is a big problem there. I'm sure he sees someone on twitter say X is a good player so he signs him.
They have a team a good individuals and on their day can beat anyone but they don't look like a team, they just look like a load of players with good ability thrown together ain't no balance or thought.

| Quote ="Sthelens RLFC"Wilkin could play like Ellery Hanley every game and still get negative comments on here.
He was excellent last night. He was brilliant in the first few weeks and that last night was back to that form. He's certainly not the only one to lose some form over the last few weeks but because of his perceived wage and desire to further himself when his career is over, people thing he's more bothered about other things than rugby. You won't find many players who try harder or care more for Saints but it doesn't suit the argument of most on here.'"
Totally agree with you, all you read on here is negative and disrespectful comments about players , coaches and back room staff. People on here think they are coaches or even some of them think they are super league players. They have not got a clue about the game, how it should be played. All the players give their all week in week out, Wilkin is one of those, he always has and will continue to do so until he retires

| Wilkin is a very influential player in the team, sometimes he makes mistakes with the amount of involvment he has in the majority of the matches we play.
The mistake people make on here is that because he has a no 12 on his back and he packs down in that position they assume he is a second row.......he is not.
Over the many, many years of watching Saints, the style of open rugby is partly due to our "loose" forwards and I dont mean a no 13. Most of the time presently and historically the Saints style of play is a passing game, this is where we have our back 3 adapting to that passing role.
The only problem Wilkin has is consistency, a couple of games below par and he gets slated on here.

Have all 24 of your posts been this bad? If your dumb statement was true Eamon wouldn't had to say some of the things he has in the last couple of seasons would he.

Yes Saddened has become a adjective.

I thought it was a standard unit of negativity? Aka the Bradford board is currently around 5saddeneds where as the Salford board is only 2saddeneds and the Leeds board is -2saddeneds?

We've certainly had the biggest range of measurement. From -5 Saddeneds pre Easter to probably 3 or 4 last week.
I do include myself in that. Although I'd put my self going from -4 to 2.

Saddened has been missing of late so is Saints currently measured at "zero saddened" units.

He appears to dip in and out of both roles. I've kind of stuck him in a 'ball playing second row' position coz frankly I can't figure out what the heck he's doing most times, except when he's trying to boss the play and getting in Walsh's way!

| IMO Wilkin has been the best and most consistent player for the last couple of seasons. I don't like him as a person but that's for a good reason.
I think a lot of Saints fans dislike him for his t.v. work which they seem to think takes preference over his playing.

He's had one good season since 2007. The 5 year deal we gave him was shocking! He's just not adapted to the modern game in size, power of strength.
I'd get get shut if poss.

| I think Wilkin has suffered at times with the way the game has changed and evolved over the years. When he first came into the side I thought of him as a 13 with a decent pair of hands, bit of a running game, and you can never really fault him for effort. As most people will know though, teams generally use their 13's as a third prop through the middle and are primarily judged on their go forward and metres made. Anything else is a bonus, so it seems.
I think he's shown some nice touches this season down that left side. He started the season in great form IMO, but on the back of the likes of Amor and Walsmley. I actually think he looks really good when we are winning the ruck because he has a decent pair of hands and can distribute, but in those tight games he does tend to struggle because he just isn't big enough to really impose himself on the game in the back-row with the ball in his hand. There really isn't a great deal he can do about that.
Had he been gifted with a bit more pace I doubt he would have stepped foot anywhere near a forward pack. Had he been born 15 years earlier he may have been given the loose forward role and have had the opportunity to express himself a little bit more. He's adapted his game a little bit this season and I believe that the club are pleased with his contribution and Brown's interview today confirms that.
There are plenty out there in a similar position to him. Lack the speed or are too big to play in the halves, not quite big enough to play in the pack but are decent footballer's. What happens to them? They become workhorses who are almost stuck between those two positions, not really through any fault of their own.
I think we're bringing the best out of him though using him as a left sided back-rower. He runs some great lines and offers some distribution down the left hand side. I thought he was very good against Huddersfield on Friday. He does his best and has done his best to make the most out of what he has.

| I think Tez the Saint analysis is more accurate than St Petes opinion on Wilkin.
It may be a coincidence I don,t know but Wilkin gradually started his play making role around 2007/2008 when we lost influential half backs. Prior to that he had more size and was more of a running back row forward.
He has had to adapt to the new utility role due to our lack of signing the right players for the right job, this when Wilkin becomes inconsistent in the role attracts crtitism more so than perhaps other players.

| I'd would argue that wilkin is a bad player, I wouldn't argue with those who think he's a really good player, I just think that there are a number of things missing from Saints team (if we want to win trophies) and Wilkin seems to sum a lot of these points - mainly being undersized and too nice.

Another loss, to then be followed up by another Loss against Leeds.
Can't see them pulling anything out the bag. They will get a bounce against London, but as we found out that does not help against other teams.
I can see them dropping to 8th this year.

They've beaten them once already this season and so, like us with Warrington, I think a lot will depend on the attitude they take into the game and whether they have tightened up their ruck defence, which is probably what got them against us. If they decide to bend their backs then they could beat Wigan. If they don't, they won't.
