| In all fairness havent all parties ie Tomkins, Koukash and Wigan confirmed the bid was genuine? Regardless of cash, we won't sign that calibre of player until we're challenging at the top.

| The £25K bid for the Bulls can be genuine. But did does not make it a serious bid.

| Posted my thoughts on Red Vee but here they are again:
The bloke thinks he can waive cash around and get success and it doesn't work like that. What he has done in reality so far is pay seasoned pros at the end of their career pots of cash. If there was no salary cap maybe it would work like in football but fortunately there is.
Warrington started with a similar model. Granted they have won a couple of Challenge Cups but still not won a Championship in 60 years and are they will have to continue to spend because they hardly have a production line do they?
What Salford need is a long term plan. Yes his cash is welcome in a game strapped for that commodity but it would be better invested in the infrastructure. Get into the schools and amateur clubs and invest in the youth and get a decent academy set up flourishing. maybe it would take a decade or more but eventually it will bear fruit.

He's been poaching a few of the 16s from Wigan ... I assume by paying more money - no idea about infrastructure for the kids though ...
Then again, even the kids he signed were for publicity, given he signed a Hanley

| But youth will take more or less 10 years, to come through. He nneeds increased attendances now to pay for the youth in 10 years.
We are not talking Saints here. They had like 3K fans left, debts sinking the club. He does not want to spend ten years waiting for youth only for 50% to get poached by the big clubs.
Also did we not spend £500k on Newlove, there were others too.
Personally I have no problem with splashing the cash or talking big. My biggest critical opinion is he bought the wrong players, but hey that was good for us as we got Amor and they got Smith.

We didn't spend £500k on newy. Loughlin, nickle and Dwyer was part of the deal.

Indeed and I do not understand the reference to Newy. He was a player at his peak. Most of the players Salford have signed are getting towards the back end.

| It means we have splashed the cash before now, as have Wigan and Leeds and Warrington and Wire. It means it's nothing new an owner wanting to spend.

I said from day one that this fool was bad for the game and 99% on these forums shot me down saying how good he was for the game.
Seems a few are coming around to my thoughts on the idiot.

Are you forgetting we were ruined by our previous chairman? A RL man who was Salford through and through and had been in charge for over 20 years. Koukash picked up the pieces and is turning us into a team that can compete.
Whatever happens, we won't be in a worst position than we were back then.
This isn't the first time a chairman has harshly sacked a coach, in fact didn't Saints sack Royce Simmons the year after he took you to a Grand Final. It's sport, it happens. Move on, hardly the end of the world.

I think you'll find that's not true, about the Salford players I mean.
Koukash is investing in the youth structures as well as the first team, and he's been working in conjunction with schools and amateur teams in the area. He's appointed someone new to work with the current youth team coach to develop youth systems and he said on Radio Manchester that one of the reasons why he has given Nobby the new job (stressing that he has not sacked him) is to oversee the development between the youth programme and the first team as he (Koukash) thinks there is no proper pathway between the two at present.
People are jumping to a lot of conclusions about a man based upon the fact that he knows how to use the media to his club's advantage. Maybe Saints could learn a few lessons here as we are invariably poor in that direction.

We was doing this long before the great Dr came along. We did it with sonny bill williams many years a go.
The bottom line, he's a complete idiot that will walk away from Salford.

If this is true, I don't see why people have such a big problem with him. He's obviously going to try and sign a decent team straight away. Speccies won't turn up to watch Salford just because they've been investing in youth structure and why should he wait 6 years to see success from his youth structure when he can pump up his team now.
Sure, he's got a big mouth, but sports are better for the odd character. I don't understand why everyone is convinced he'll walk away, either.
