There are a good few years to come before we're even in contention for trophies. If Walsh has broken his jaw/cheek as it appears he may have, we might as well not bother next season.'"
We look basically clueless again. We are pinning all are hopes on Walsh who looked very good on his debut.
My worry is not strike power in the backs.

It just showed that we are lacking a 6 for me. Turner was a dead end at 6 and for whatever reason our best 6 started on the bench then came on at left centre.
I was behind the bench and when he came off Walsh was rubbing his jaw, hopefully it will just be bruised but if it is broken then the season is over before it starts for us ... again.
On the strike power thing I think having Turner back in the centre's would help , I like Percival but he still seems a little light so I wouldnt be over using him.

He's spot on . Wigan under the fat ape and Maguire have become a very nasty team. We should fight fire with fire and let our massive front row loose on Smith and Green next time we play. I'm sure Ape man would be crying to the press if that happened though like he did with Ratboy

Wire did it in the grand final, didn't work. However some reports have it as Kyle Amore(SP) who ran into Walsh.

| Quote ="Magic Superbeetle"Sigh, not sure why I'm going to do this but hey. Team was pretty much everyone except tommy mak:
1. Jonny Lomax; 5. Adam Swift, 22. Mark Percival, 4. Josh Jones, 26. Matty Dawson; 3. Jordan Turner, 7. Luke Walsh; 16. Kyle Amor, 9. James Roby, 14. Anthony Laffranchi, 12. Jon Wilkin, 13. Willie Manu, 10. Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook
Subs: 6. Lance Hohaia, 11. Sia Soliola, 15. Mark Flanagan, 17. Paul Wellens, 18. Alex Walmsley, 24. Gary Wheeler, 27. Greg Richards, 30. Carl Forster.
Wigan were a week ahead in their prep, we were sloppy at times, and have things to work on but didn't give much away. Sounds like we learnt from last year and didn't use all the moves we were planning for the following week.
If this had been the first game, it would of been worrying, otherwise take it with a pinch of salt.
Turner was pretty anonymous at 6, lance was poor and Percival looked great in attack but poor defensively. Wheeler looked threatening again.
Overall judgement: good blowout of the cobwebs, would if been nice to win, but I'd rather we beat Warrington on the first match. Worried about Walsh, but the saints match report said it was merely precautionary. Work on the intensity in the forwards and discipline and well be looking good.'"
That was the majority of the players first game back for Wigan. Bateman, sarginson, powell, williams and crosby are the only players to have played a friendly.

Good use of animal descriptions ... ape man, rat boy .... tell me are you still "sick as a parrot" this morning my envious little friend?
Incidentally, if it is proven Luke Walsh has collided with his own player causing the injury, lets us hope Brown has the grace to apologise, otherwise he should be fined for bringing the game into disrepute. If it is foul play then the player concerned should be banned for a couple of months for an illegal head shot.

I didn't see it and not sure how it happened but if it was off the ball, I'd put money on it being Taylor. He likes to hit the little men late but strangely never seen him get involved with any big guys.

He probably learned that from McIlorum. Another coward who never picks on a big lad.

| You been bullied by a Wigan pack again by any chance?
Don't do a bad job of intimidating your pack considering we supposedly have all these guys who won't front up to big forwards.
Wane and Wigans players will be shaking in their boots if you let LMS, Laffranchi and co lose on them.

I disagree. He is a coward. He thrives on hitting when they are vulnerable, i.e off the ball or from behind. I've never seen him go face to face with someone bigger than him. Absolute house.

So your pack hasn't been bullied or intimidated by Wigans in the past few seasons? They've been dominated most games and haven't looked interested.
I've read plenty of your own fans complaining of this.
Ps your comments about McIlorum are laughable.

For the record I distinctly remember him chinning Olivier Elima, who is way bigger than MM.

100% agree we have been bullied by your pack in recent seasons and in all honesty I've been embarrassed at times how soft our pack has been but we wasn't bullied last night and I don't expect this pack to be bullied by any pack at all.

Exactly mate.
Last year our best prop was a kid who had just come from the championship . This year we have a much more experienced Walmesley, Maose and Amor . They wont be getting bullied by any pack.

I'm expecting a much better Saints pack this year for sure. Masoe will add plenty of aggression when he's back although only in short bursts. There still are a few that are a bit 'too nice' but it should be as noticeable as in previous seasons.
Last night has certainly wetted everyone's appetites for the season and I'm looking forward to Good Friday already.

Add Manu sia and Wilkin to that, they ain't going to be getting bullied. I accept other packs might get the better of ours but I don't think the likes of maose, Amor, walmsley, sia, Manu, Wilkin, Roby are players to be bullied.
I'm pretty certain we are in for another frustrating season with our attack. Not only have we got no stand off but also no strike centre. The pack can work their bottoms off and Walsh can his great passes wide but if the payers on the edges like our centres can't do anything with the good ball they get means we will struggle in attack.
I can see us reverting to one up rugby with a kick at the end of it.
I can see how on paper Turner might look like a decent 6 but it's just not going to work. He's not got a rugby brain, not got direct running style when he takes on the line. So we basically starting the season off how we finished last season, still searching for a player to play 6.
By putting Turner at stand off, we've lost what little threat he had out wife which IMO makes us weaker this season.
