It certainly seems an innocuous error but considering Warrington's nose is cleaner than clean, it's £8000 more than WArrington have ever gone over the cap.

I think we could do without the smug self-righteous sanctimony if you don't mind matey - the glasshouse rule applies. Warrington are obviously bending the rules and exploiting the loopholes on salary cap every bit as much now as any other team ever has in the history of SL, even Wigan. If the rules allow it to go on then more power to your elbow and by all means exploit it to the full extent you can - I hope the new stadium allows us to go doling out dozens of suspiciously highly paid clerical jobs to players' friends and family soon too. Just don't come on here with the phoney halo **** and we'll all be happy.

I like the way Warrington play and rate Tony Smith, but TBH at their best I prefer Wigan's more structured approach (if anything I think their pack is a classic case where the sum of parts is better than the individuals). The key to beating any team of course is to put them under pressure - stopping them scoring or at least building an early lead is vital. Whether anyone can do that with Warrington remains to be seen though.

You ever think that people want to come to Warrington to win things? I know you probably share the same mentality of other 'below average' clubs, like London (in that you have to pay over the odds for very poor players to compensate for a drought of trophies) but don't assume Warrington do.

You'd be a fool to believe that a professional sportsman doesn't want to win something and you have way more chance of doing that at Warrington.

It's really quite simple.

It would have been a risk, but I wish we had thrown the chequebook at Chris Hill last season. One of the best props in SL and was the best prop on the field on Monday and Saturday. We're crying out for a pack leader and he would have been a perfect replacement for Jammer.

Chris Hill or Andy Lynch would have been good replcements for Jammer.

We've obviously still got a bit of desire when it comes to transfers, given we seem to have really gone for Manu, but one swallow doesn't make a summer and all that.

Whatever the reason Chris Hill chose to come to Warrington, was he on anyone else's radar, we have a good relationship with Leigh, we were prepared to pay top dollar, Chris wanted to play for us and TS (or vice versa if you like)? He has been outstanding from Day 1 and would have been a great signing for any top SL side.

The Leigh speccies were right and it is a 'risk' that has never materialised.

All the same sort of stuff about Warrington was being said on this forum a year ago until a Saints' fan did a player by player comparison of the squads and illustrated that the wage bill would be about the same.

If you sign an "out of contract" Michael Shenton and beat five other clubs to his signature you are going to be paying a higher slary than you would if you bought Ryan Atkins out of his Wakefield contract when there was over 12 months left. It would cost you a transfer fee but that doesn't go against the salary cap. Its all about value for money.

If Warrington use all these "cheats" around the salary cap how did Saints out bid us for Puletua?

The fundamental issue with Wigan's pack is, their hooker isn't much cop.

Watch out, that's sacrilidge to some Wigan supporting posters. We're often told of his obvious superiority to Roby which is clearly demostrated by him being on the winning side against saints.
He is clearly world class in every department.

Facts is facts is facts. A player's career is short and in the past few years Saints have won a bagful of dog and Warrington have won a few trophies; Don't be ashamed, you're time in the sun was bound to pass. The simple fact is that Hill and Ratch etc like to be on the winning team, while Perry and Lance will settle for money.

Just take a minute to write down that players Saints have bought over the last three years (and maybe include the slug and other, in the words of many Saints fans, 'past it players' that have resigned) and how much you think they are being paid to come to a losing club.

Leeds aren't guilty of cheating, Saints were only a little bit guilty of cheating and Bradford never cheated.

Money problems (cheating and not having enough) come for weaker teams. The old adage of success breeds success is ultimately true. Now let it go... you may just end up having to break the salary cap some more to stop yourself dipping too low.

Ancient history means all to a player who has only got a 10, maybe 15 year career. Wire has won 3 trophies in 3 years. Saints have 3 trophies in, what, 5 or six years? WArrington are in the challenge cup final this year. Saints are struggling to beat any of their nearest rivals and teams such as Bradford and Wakefeild... and you want to dispute who is the healthier and appealing club?

If we are going off ancient history then why aren't Cas and Widnes signing Benji and Billy from the NRL??? or even Tomkins and Hill??? cause you can win more at Wire and Wigan.

The sun has set on Saints (very brief) period of dominance. Going to old trafford and losing loses it's charm after the 5th time. You must remember what it is like to be in a challenge cup final, right? Imagine playing in one. No chance of anyone in a red V doing that this year, or even next.

Isn't there a certain irony about Saints' fans accusing Wire of breaking the salary cap by use of inducements, when its well known that Saints have 'attracted' young players to their academy by taking them on trips to Australia??....

If I remember correctly: the players themselves have to pay something towards that trip...

Still an inducement though......The size of that inducement doesn't matter, its just handy we have a board member who can provide more enticing bait than many of the other clubs in the league.

You are all being a little hypocritical to suggest we are in the wrong, when its been going on for years and is still going on (not just by Wire).

Apparently, according to some, offering inducements to players in order to join the club.....I'm open minded on the subject and willing to see evidence of this happening, but at the moment the only definite inducements we seem to have established, is Saints giving cheap holidays to Australia for their Academy squad as inducement to join them rather than other clubs.

It's hardly a 'holiday'!

Lets kick out Catalans then as we can't 'induce' the players with a 'cheap holiday' to France!
