Quote ="Back Row Singer"Why?
Also, why are there 'green brigade' skulls displayed? Its Rugby League.
I Applaud the Brigantes' efforts. A lot of effort must go in behind the scenes to get displays like that, even just grouping 'the singers' together is a task, which is why we need some organisation amongst the St Helens singers!
There is no doubt Wigan's atmosphere has massively improved over the past couple of seasons. They've grouped together 'the song starters', coinciding with the clubs success over the last year or so and have moved on from the single droans of 'waaggguuun, waaggguuun... (with a gay finger point)'
I think you've turned the wrong way with an Ultra-style though, but thats just my view.'"
That is not a 'Green Brigade skull' it is just an image of a skull which has a cherry and white scarf on... it is used by Ultras all over the world.
A lot of effort does go on behind the scenes which is why some of us can be quite touchy in defending what we do at games.
Our support has improved a lot and it is being noticed, just look at my sig. Even some Warrington fans admitting we have the best support around
To be honest I don't think this has anything to do with the success of the club, the flag movement started late 2009. All of the lads I know who are involved are die hard fans and have been coming most of their life.
Thats your opinion about the ultra style.... but we are what we are... we put on displays and lead the singing. I don't mind what other fans think we are really. Look at the pictures of our home debut and you will see hundreds of people turning around before the game watching our display and having a look, our fans loved it and the players have made numerous comments, thats all that matters. Our fans love the new songs we have introduced, yes ok one of them is just noise but everyone joins in, more than can be said for most RL clubs with the same old ...
'team name till I die'
'we love you team name, we do'
'come on you team name'
There are very few sets of fans offering anything different to these...
We have earned a reputation amongst our fans to bring in new songs. When Dale Cavese first started, I think some of our fans were like 'what the f*ck is that'... but we have since earned some respect for the way we support the team and people have realised we don't claim to be any better than our other fans... this means our fans now follow what we do and any new song is a hit straight away.
I'm sure you will hear our latest and best new song called 'Cherry and white' on saturday, it is a cracker
Personally I hope the Ultras scene takes off at saints, I think it would make us improve and it would improve the atmosphere at the games between us. Imagine displays happening at both ends of the ground on Good Friday with constant vocal support from both sides... it would be Englands version of the Milan/Rome derby
you don't see anything like that anywhere in England. The only thing that gets close is the Glasgow derby and I think part of why that is so big is because of the colour and fanatical support on show. This kind of movement on both sides could increase the size of the derby itself and it would look good for the sport on tv!
I know a few of our guys have said it in the past but if you ever need some advice of help on how to get things going then give one of us a shout!
