SEcond rowers we have
Moore
Sia
Flannaghan
Dixon
Flannery
Ashurst
Wilkin
Megennis
Thats eight second rowers for two spot. Apart from megennis and Flannaghan allthese are up for contract renewal 2012.
If the rumours are true Moore & Ashurst won't be at the club next year. Megennis is a prop and has been used that way this year, playing loose, so would expect him to bulk up in the off season.that would leave us with 5 second rowers for 2/3 positions and a bench spot.

Not true. Especially last year Jammer put the play on straight from kick off when defenders bunched together trying to win the ruck defensively. The beneficiary is usually Wilkin as he runs great lines.
So if LMS can perfect this and send on of our players through a massive gap off our own line to run full length and win the Grand Final think it may have been worth while

Well thats the big question are the rumours true.
Personally I'dike to keep moore as Wilkin can play loose and as you say megenis maybe a prop. Flannery will retire at some point. So more would give us a class second rower for years to come assuming he is not in jail for years to come.

| I agree with all the positives raised on this thread, however Moore needs to show that he is learning or has learned from these brain farts. The concern is starting to grow that he isn't learning.

He isn't. I've commented on various other Scott Moore threads and I have come to the conclusion that others watch a completely different player to the one I do.
I admire his passion, but for me the positives don't outweigh the negatives. I don't think 'aggression' and very sporadic moments of brilliance compensates for all the missed tackles/gaps due to rushing out of the line, reckless penalties despite not playing long minutes and knock ons at the absolute worst moments.
Besides, this 'aggression' that people keep talking about brings less metres per carry than an Andrew Dixon, despite the fact that Moore often plays from acting half back and scoots often.
A player who would give his heart for the cause, but sadly not good enough for Saints in my opinion.

| Somewhere along the line, he has become a back rower, and further along the line, we have signed a hooker in Flanagan . This year, Moore has played in the back row, but only because Roby has played long minutes without a break. If he gets injured, I would much sooner have an experienced hooker in Moore to cover, than one cobbled together from Flanagan, Lomax Hohaia or whoever else we get to fill the spot.

I think we may see Hohaia at hooker with Gaskell/Wheeler into the halves should Roby get injured. Hohaia is a very proficient hooker and has played a good amount of time there this year. I wouldn't be too worried if he was picked there in the place of an injured Roby.

| To be fair I thought dixon played well too. His defence was very noticable during that game. Seamed to be in the right place at the right time. Back to his best from last season.

I know Ashurst and Dixon have their detractors as well as their fans, but a lot of the talk tend to be whether [iwe[/i should be keeping hold of all our young backrowers. Possibly Ashurst moving to Salford as rumoured would be a better move for [ihim[/i, giving him more 1st team game time to develop.

It was a typical Scott Moore performance. He was energetic, aggressive, and gave away a penalty for an absolutely unnecessary high tackle when we had Wigan camped in their own 10. It would be churlish to grumble though; he was good.

| Scott Moore has become a bit of an impact player from the bench. Think Royce has used him well this season most versatile player in the team. He always lets the opposition know he's around be it offense and defense, he's had a good season.

| If I can just reprise this thread, you could argue that tonight was a good example of why Moore's negatives outweigh his positives. Saints were 8 points up, with momentum all their way, about to force Leeds to come away from their line again, and Saints were at that point running stronger and tackling better than a weary-looking Leeds outfit who hadn't had possession in the Saints half for an age. He'd already given away at least one penalty that I can recall, but momentum was with us. He then delivers a completely needless clothes line high tackle, Leeds boot it into our half, and it is essentially all over from that point. That set of 6 led to Shenton's arm break, Leeds' comeback try, and from that point on, it's all Leeds. It was a classic example of a turning point in a game.
Brainfarts like that cost not just matches, but championships. Get rid.

| I was disappointed to hear that he is leaving, but you ate right, tonight he showed his weakness for giving away daft penalties that appeared to let Leeds back into the game. Hopefully Flanagan and hohaia can more than make up for his departure

| Just while I'm at it - watch the video to see who had their feet glued to the spot to miss the tackle to let Burrow break for Hall's try that put Leeds ahead.
I want to be clear - I'm not making Moore scapegoat. You can't blame him for Leeds' excellent defence, and you can't blame him for the fact that Gaskell took more wrong options than right with the ball in hand, or that Lomax was invisible for most of the game. You can't blame him for the fact that Saints looked vanishingly likely to make a line break or set up a score (so much so, that I was wishing to God we had Pryce back on the field as a genuinely unpredictable playmaker). But Moore needs to find another club where his poor judgment won't be punished so seriously.

| Moore gave away silly penalties and missed tackles at key points in the game tonight that possibly cost you a game it looked like you were going to win.
Each time he comes on the field in games i have seen is to give an immediate penalty away and same again tonight.

| Moore's aggressiveness and its uses are debatable. What isn't is his lateral defence, which is even worse than Fozzard's. If an opponent is coming straight at him he has no problems. But any kind of sidestep leaves him sunk like the Prince of Wales in Hong Kong harbour.

| I played on the same town team as Scott and against him when he played at Leigh Miners and again for Blackbrook. He always played at 6 at amateur level, then switched to 9 when he broke into Saints first team and at Huddersfield, can't understand why he now seems to be played at 2nd row?

Thats what you get with Scott and the main reason he's not kicked on to be a top player.

Not picking Leon on the bench was a mistake and I knew it would be. He could have slotted in any of the back positions and IMO would have caused Leeds problems.
