I wish people would stop saying Sammut. It's amazing what a funky haircut and appearing on a couple of highlight reels can do for a man. I'd be more interested in us securing a full back rather than a half back for next year.

I still think we need a halfback though, especially if Pryce leaves too. We would have a massive amount of salary cap space to make up. I would like to see a big name scrum half with Wheeler/Gaskell given a go at stand off if Pryce leaves.

Pryce is too inconsistent at organising for him to be taking on that responsibility. He's okay for the occasional match but if he did it reguarly (which he doesn't) we would never have been so hopeful of Kyle. We cannot have two runners at half unless somebody else is able to take on field kicking.

Has anyone considered matty smith? he knows the team and the way we line up, he has good experience at super league level, proved that he could compete with and against the best last year (as he tore us apart) and he is currently in a team under performing for the players they have brought in. The only disadvantage is that we let him go without giving him a chance!

Discounting the 3 game European holiday of Andrew Johns, i can only think of Trent Barrett who came over in 2007 who was not of pensionable age.

Hence i think we would need to discount a signing of anyone under 30 years of age.

The main factor why they wont come over anymore is that there isnt the money in Britain compared to Australia.

Dennis Moran the 2nd for me. He'd really struggle at a big club imo and if ever a side like Saints or one of the other top sides were going to target a Crusaders half they'd be better off with Michael Witt(although i'm still not sure he's good enough but is a more rounded player then Sammut).

Sammut is a big fish in a small pond that can do whatever he wants on the field and play without structure and just wouldn't settle into a role that Saints, Wigan, Wire etc would want him to play.

Very True. I would like one of the young kids to be given a run at Scrum Half or if we needed to recruit I would prefer a organising Scrum Half with a good kicking game. Personally I think we have lacked that since Longy did the role superbly well in 2005/2006.

I wouldn't rule out a top quality replacement coming here. Saints are a big attraction and if the alleged offer of £250,000 a year to Eastmond is true (as reported in one of the papers) then we certainly have some money to throw about.
