The point is, though, that all those penalties against us gave you more opportunities to score not least because most of them arrived in twos. One or two of them I'm still trying to figure out. Most of them were deserved. We really do fall down on discipline sometimes.

cheers man not bad thanks, hope things are going ok with you bud. Got a couple of free months sky sports so watched it on there when realised stu wasn't on. He'll be gutted ha. Not too fussy who wins next week but you'll smash Leeds anyway on tonights evidence just hope you finish above Wire in the league. Great performance tonight well done but I'm not getting drawn into any arguments with Wire fans saying they were unlucky, it didn't come naturally to me wanting either team to win but I think if they'd nicked it at the end it would have been a disgrace as far as I'm concerned. Wasn't it something like 14 penalties to 6 and the 6 you got were mainly in your own half? Totally garbage from Alibert. Fantastic game from two very good sides however. talk to you soon buddy and seriously hope your health isn't causing you too many probs

| What 50/50's went our way every time?
How come the saints player didn't get done for a double movement? He was held, then went for it again, just because he doesn't score doesn't mean it doesn't go un-penalized surely?

| yes it does as he doesnt get the ball down so its not a double movement.....
Anderson knock on in first half, Ashurst second half did nothing except tell the ref it was knocked on and the ref penalised him.....to name 2, do you have any?

If he didn't score, there is no double movement. There can only be a double movement if the ball is put over the line. It wasn't. Clough was held up. Your defence was very, very good.

The ball carrying arm never hit the deck so he's free to fight, fight, fight for the try until the ref calls held. Reference to Scotty Gibbs who scored quarter of an hour after being tackled once at Charlton to win us the league.
50:50s that went Wire's way? How about Hick's knock on on his own 10 that the ref ignored completely? Or the penalties late on against Ashurst, Flannery and Wilkin for absolutely nothing. Or the decision to give a scrum to Warrington for the ball steal on Foster when Solomona has his knee in his back, thus technically a penalty for a 2 on 1 strip. There were plenty. I guess Warrington got roughly 15 penalties in that game, I don't think any more than 5 or 6 were justifiable.

| But that's the same as being tackled, getting back up to run, moving off the mark, realizing you've done wrong and gone back to play it, and still getting penalized anyway is it not?

no because hes in mid air...held, play the ball. If he called held and then he fell over the line and scored then your point would be valid.

oh yes I forgot about the double movement where the ball carrying arm doesn't hit the floor. I remember Graham being penalised when the ref never called held, Matty Ashurst being penalised for nothing and a forward pass from yourselves which was blatant and the ref ignored it. Thats just a couple of examples from memory

I think it was Louis Anderson, not hicks, if we're thinking of the same one, and it wasn't a knock on, he was facing his own line, went back, then bounced forwards between his legs. Myler had the ball before Solomona got the touch. I don't know what penalties you refer to re: Ashurst, Flannery, Wilkin. Saints got things their own way too to be honest, Graham should of gone to the sin bin for that tirade against the ref.

I believe his momentum was stopped, but if the ref didn't call held then fair enough.

He was facing his own line and it bounced to the opposition line on the first bounce...knock on.

How can it go forward when his body was in the way preventing it from going forward? It didn't bounce over his shoulder and didn't go around his body, it went through his legs after bouncing first, it went forward upon the second bounce.

| Well played.
Kept Wire from getting anywhere near us, and of more importance it drags thems back into a fight for second place.
You and wire can now battle it out over the next three weeks for second, while we (Wigan) can just relax a little bit without the pressure of being caught and get ourselves ready for the play-off's.
Thanx.

| Superb game, massive effort from both sides.
I thought Cunningham was brilliant for you guys considering he is just coming back from injury.
If I was a neutral (i.e. not a supporter of Wigan, Saints, Leeds or Wire) then I'd not be able to wait for this play off series because it's going to be the most exciting yet!

| Thought we were the better team on the night. If it wasn't for the penalties we wouldn't have been closing to losing. A few times Wire fluffed their lines particularly down King's side with three abysmal passes directly into touch when at least one of them was looking good for a try. The pass from Anderson near the end when Wire looked like they were going in was shocking. Compare it to Leon's magical pass to Foster.
If Wire win they we should be in for a cracking cup final no matter if it's us or Leeds who face them. I know we'd like to see Catalans surprise Wire next week but for the good of the game the final needs Wire to be in it.

| Thoroughly entertaining game as a neutral, and a well -deserved win. Yeah, Wire bottled it, but that was largely a result of some excellent defence frustrating them, IMO.
Graham was outstanding; it was really noticeable when he wasn't on the pitch.
