You and your obsession with stats...
Prop is about the only position I really find stat helpful with.
What I do think is that tackles made is generally a large reflection of minutes played rather than anything else which, given Clough's higher number of appearences, makes sense. It therefore also makes sense that the number of carries he's making is about the same, as you'd expect him to do a little less of that work than a prop.
All in all, he's a workhorse and is making over 8 yards per carry and averaging 110 yards and 24 tackles a game. That is impressive I think.
Any one who watches a game will know Morley's a different kettle of fish, but clough's still very young.

At this moment in time paul clough is not as good as westwood. Westwood is better in defence, more mobile and is better with the ball in hand.
Clough is getting better and better each year and should earn himself a call up to england squad pretty soon. I really like clough, he never takes backward step and always makes good yards.

| Westwood certainly has comedic value. If there's to be one moment of distilled idiocy in a game you can bet Westwood will be at the heart of it wearing that trademark moronic look of his.
He's a trier who you could argue has made the best of minuscule talent. But nothing more than that - and certainly not international class.
Clough is still developing and perhaps needs another season before he matures fully. He's not as conspicuous as Westwood, but he's more consistent. And he makes far fewer mistakes.

I was just having a look at the stats from this season and clough has a 99% tackle completion rate - fantastic. I think he's been brilliant for us for us since he broke through.
You can't judge an awful lot from stats, but Clough's error and penalty count is a lot lower than westwood's which has an obvious benefit. Westwood's offload score is a lot higher, but I think that will come into Clough's game as he gets older and stronger (that's also probably an indication of Wire's game). I'd say Westwood also shows a bit more impact in both his carries and tackles, but again, as Clough gets older and stronger that will come into his game more.
I think you're a little harsh on Westwood, he's a seriously robust player and his game might not seem top drawer, but he can take it to interantional level and still look like the same player - making hard yards and hard tackles. he may not be considered a world beater, but I don't worry when he's in an international squad.

| Westwoods offloads come from the fact he was a centre in his junior days and also at Wakefield.

| He's decent enough is Clough. He'll need to add a a few more strings to his bow if he want's to be considered one of the best backrowers in the comp, particularly when compared to the likes of Joel Tomkins or Harrison at wire.
I think I'd agree his future lies in the frontrow.

I first saw him there for Dire and he looked like a real plodder. He'd certainly improved since he moved into the pack though

His work rate and stamina are tremendous as well. He's like a poor man's Nathan Hindmarsh, which is no bad thing.

| Another good performance from clough in a bruiser of a game. Some crucial tackles and good yards.
