| Which begs the question, will we be spending anywhere near the salary cap next season or are we making cutbacks because of the financial black hole the stadium scenario is?

| If someone with McManus' experience and resume can't keep a club afloat we might as well roll up the sport and watch football.

| Aren't the squads of both clubs pretty much the same last year? The only things that have changed seem to be the coaches. Nathan Brown has transformed Huddersfield. That's the difference. Do you have money you can't spend? If not, the salary cap is irrelevant, surely.
I've just read the thread on "the end of an era", and it is good to see that the main view appears to be welcoming an open competition, unlike the Wigan threads on the same subject, who seem to think it is their right to buy the game for themselves.

If we have then we deserve everything we get. That was Wigan plan during their glory-buying years and they are STILL paying the price for it.

In case you missed it, the point was the success of both wire + hudds has nothing to do with the sc, but more to do with two rich owners willing to invest time money and skill in improving their clubs

How you can be so sure that without the salary cap players like Wild, Robinson, Mason, Wild, Hodgson, Morley, King et al would be at those teams? IIRC Wild was made an offer by Saints at a time when Saints could, if the salary cap wasn't in place, comfortably paid more for his services than Huddersfield and he scored a couple of tries yesterday.

| Quote ="FearTheVee"Huddersfield were excellent and are the best defensive team in the league. Just because you think they're mediocre doesn't make it true.'"
What makes it mediocre is that the Giants side is a decent side and nothing more. Standards have equalled out but the quality on show today is poor compared to the standard of 10 years ago.
Would you imagine that side holding out the Saints of Milward, Wigan over 10 years ago and the Bulls of 5 years ago. Whilst the cap has made each match a game where most results are not for gone conclusions, the standard of play has paid a heavy price. Lets put it this way. the great Saints side that Milward hade would have hammered both sides. As the ball retention of both sides was very poor and i think at one point in the second half it was mentioned that Giants completion rate was 60%. Might be wrong but im fairly certain of that.

Saints of 2002ish would have scored more points but not as many as you think. They'd also have conceded more.
The Wigan of 10 years ago would have been held out.
The Bulls of 5 years ago would have produced a similar game.
