I think the semi will be too soon for Long but i think when he is ready you need him back. A team containing Long would have finished Wigan off much sooner in my opinion. Eastmond drifts in and out of the game, Long runs it.

While Roby is out Eastmond could provide you the perfect speed impact off the bench.

There are countless examples of players returning to the field after unfeasibly short recovery times following surgery. I remember Paul Forber taking to the field three weeks after some pretty extensive knee surgery. Mind you, Buffer probably had less pain receptors (and brain neurons) than most.

If Roby is out then you simply play both. Long starting and Eastmond for a bit of impact off the bench. If Roby does play then it becomes a harder question. In the end you would have to pick between Ashurst and Eastmond on the bench and even though you would want an extra worker on the field Eastmond would be far to dangerous to leave out.

personnally i would play exactly the same team as beat wigan or as close as possible how can you play long and punish the players who have slogged their guts out over the last few weeks, i would be really upset if i was ashurst, dixon or anyone else for that matter if i'd lost my place after toughing it through the last few weeks, time to reward efforts i beleive

also from a kyle point of view if he were to be our starting 7 next year and we do get to the semi's , final, playoffs etc and he chokes or has a shocker due to lack of experience, im sure we will be thinking we should have played him last year.

perfect opportunity to get the lusted after experience everyone goes on about, plus he has been quality the past few weeks.

and if we do play long do we not run the risk of kyle not signing a contract and losing him shortly also, along with matty smith while celtic are putting the pressure on an answer regarding his future, which would then leave us next year with nothing, or wheeler , wilkin roby at 7 out of position, and us playing possibly our 3rd string scrum half if they get injured.

I thought it was a fairly inspired idea in theory, but had to laugh at how the news report made an issue out of the fact that he had winked at the bench and that this was a big give away - rather than the fact that it looked nothing like real blood and more like the stuff used in cheap ass zombie movies in the 70's!
