Wire fans really do think that saints and Wigan care about the game against them.
They beat us once a season but you will see eventually how much they cream themselves when they win.
I would love to see Widnes back in super league to create that extra derby, I feel sorry for the wire fans travelling to the magic weekend and not getting a big game like most other teams do.

No, its a local match but it has never been regarded as the main local rivalry.
I read somewhere that the term Derby dates back to the English civil war when a group of Roundheads raised in the area which would later become St Helens fought a Royalist force defending Wigan led by Lord Derby at the Battle of Wigan Lane. |
