| Am I right in thinking he's not signed a proper first team contract yet?
I thought Kyle did very well today in a side he's still not used to controlling or leading. If he's going to grow and develop beyond the level we saw today then we are in good hands, my only concern being his ability to last a season due to his physical dimensions.
There were on or two moments today when I saw said 'wow' out loud. Like the injection of pace and the pass for Gardner's try. Such a simple skill but it was absolutely clinical.

| Quote ="saint billy"I disagree with that. I don't agree that his defence was very good. I thought defensively he looked pretty average (not awful by any means), but definatly need improving. When Long first came to Saints, his defence was too pretty rubbish, but it improved with time and he can now defend quite well in the centres, and hopefully Eastmond will be able to improve his defence.'"
I agree, he doesnt have th technique of Roby or Lomax but its good to see that he wasnt scared of getting in on people like Matt King (who is a foot taller)
Going forward that turn of speed is immense and he ghosted through two defenders to put Wello in.
Kicking needs to be looked at, it isnt very bad but its rushed and sometimes abit wild.
Overall he had a good first major game.

| Quote ="SaintsFan"But Burrow (a) has a few years on Kyle to perfect his technique and (b) still makes errors of judgment, eg at Leeds last year in the CC semi when he was out for the count and had to be helped off the pitch. Kyle has improved quite a bit on last season, for instance, in terms of his technique and effort but he is bound to continue finding it a challenge given the difference between him and the majority of men he is tackling.'"
All players do that at some point though, even big ones.
Let's also not forget that he's still only a kid and will get stronger as he gets older. You are right in that he will always find it a challenge to tackle bigger men, but as long as he becomes a competant defender that'll do me.

| Hopefully the Warrington game will kick start him onto the next level as he has not had that many superleague games playing for the full 80 min.
I like the Little and Large combination at half back, the potentional of the most dangerous partnership in superleague is a distinct possibilty.
I think we should not expect Kyle to perform MOM week in week out. Mick Potter would probably be quite happy with 2 good performances in every 3.
Once he improves his match fitness and awareness in the next 8 weeks he could turn out to be one sensational player.

| Personally, I think people arent giving Eastmond ENOUGH credit for his performance today. Ive seen Long throw upwards of 5 wayward passes, yet set a couple up, score one himself and the board go into overdrive about how good he was.
Yes, we should keep our feet on the ground when it comes to the youngsters but Eastmond was class today, in a team missing its 2 main leaders in Long and Cunningham, he stepped up and orgainsed us like a seasoned veteran against a team on a massive run of form and one that was always going to give everything they had against us.

| Was it three or even tour years ago that I mentioned Eastmond as one to watch.
Superb talent, with pace to burn. I still have reservations about his defence, but I'm sure that can be fixed.
Sort his attitude out and he could go on to be a player that goes right to the top.

Very difficult.
Three different players.
Sam has the step and pace over the distance and is certainly the best defender.
Eastmond is physically stronger and has superb acceleration.
Myler is probably the better kicker/organiser.
All three are very talented played in their own rites, and I suppose it just depends on the team role they are given/required within that structure.
The best of the three.
I'd have Sam because he can probably do that bit more in the defensive role and reads that side of the game so well.
And in the last two years has come out on top in his "battles" at academy level, although I do appreciate that could be due to playing in a better team.
Finally, isn't it great to talk about three talented English half backs and hopefully we'll see them battling it out for places in the GB/England side in the coming years.
There's another young player at Warrington in their academy named Rhys Evans who is well worth watching. He's the best newcomer I've seen this season so far.

Is he the lad that plays at Full Back / Centre? I've seen a few clips of him and he reminds me of Jamie Lyon with his acceleration and running style.

If you get Myler will be the biggest mistake since Wigan let Long go.

| been a wigan fan it was strange feeling wanting you guys to win last night. From a GB point a view would be fantastic to see tomkins and eastmond at halves. if the lad carries on playing like that your gonna have a worldbeater on your hands. people rave about Myler and there is no doubt he will be a quality player but sam and kyle could be the future. eastmond pace off the mark is almost jason robinson esque but got a decent pair of hands on him as well. will be interesting to see how he goes over the coming weeks.

| The King is dead....
Long live King Kyle..
Even shown that attitude I like from players giving the ref hell under the sticks.
Pace, passing & the rugby brain of a 30yr old.
Thanks for the memories Sean

Completely disagree. A stronger ref would have sin-binned him for the way he carried on and its something he needs to stamp out of his game right away.
A few words with the ref is something you expect from a cheeky halfback but screaming and bawling is completely unacceptable and is something some of the younger players in the game seem to be bringing in with them. It was interesting to see at one scrum, Garreth Carvell pleading with James Graham to shut up as he was launching his own tirade at the ref. The more experienced players in our game should do more of this and set the example to the youngsters so that our game doesn't go the same way as football.
Good game from Eastmond otherwise. A few poor passes, but excellent acceleration will cause problems for tiring defences late in each half

James Graham was pointing out the rules to the ref, you could pick that up on the mic
Listen most of the ref's are so far up thier own backside's they need knocking down a peg or 10.. Good on ya Jammer keep it going.

| So Eastmond, Myler, Ratchford, McNally and Tomkins. Great prospects and I don't think I've ever seen such rich promises coming through at half back since I've been watching the game. Big thumbs up for Super League.

Now we need to find fullbacks, wingers and centres.
Hall and Ainscough are probably two wing prospects.
Evans at Warrington has the potential to fill any of those positions.
Clubb and Lawrence at .
Stefan Marsh and Ian Thornley at Wigan are progressing well.

Lomax is being trained in the fullback spot, and considering his all round footballing ability, i think he could go a long way.
Tony Clubb is a bit too ponderous to be a top class centre. In fact he is looking more and more like a forward.
Ryan Hall certainly looks to have size and pace.
Dont forget Leeds also have Kallum Watkins who is an amazing prospect, in two or three years time he could be frightening at centre.
The key for England/GB prospects is too have pace linked with quality throughout the backline.
