| Quote ="The Chair Maker"Hull look like a team that are good at grinding out wins, as Bradford used to do.
Their pack is big and they put pressure on the opposition.
They still however seem to lack those killer offensive players that make the difference between genuine title contenders and a mere top8 side.
I also thought it noteworthy that Hudds played shocking yet still scored 20 points against Hull.
For me Hudds have more class in their side than Hull.
Both teams are capable of defeating the likes of Saints and Leeds on an off day, but if Saints or Leeds are in top form its curtains for them.'"
4 matches in and i dont think anybody has hit top form....we are grinding out results at the moment but hope the attacking flair comes as we are still bedding in a new half back pairing which we didnt have last year.
Disagree about Hudds having more class....think our backs are classier when we get them all playing and Hall goes to centre plus hopefully we will have 2 new forwards coming in IF they get visas.
Love the arrogance...........shouldnt you be getting your alter ego out BTW.

Hull could well finish in the top-four but their lack of skill in the non-pivotal positions and lack of genuine pace in the centres will mean I think they'll probably finish around 6th IMO...

Yeah, got some flair that kid but goes missing a bit when the going gets tough, maybe be best to give him a run there.

I mean the likes of your props, second rowers and centres having that bit of skill to create something when your pivots are being marked.
I suppose I mean players such as Galea, Morrison, Wilkin, Lautiti etc. (second-rowers who could play 6 if needed).
Centres I mean the likes of Gidley, Webster, Walker etc. who can throw accurate passes whilst in the process of being a tackled.
Front-rowers I mean ball-players though I they're probably a dying breed now anyway.

Still got 1 2nd rower to come...hopefully 2 so they will help.Whiting may be a option in 2nd row.
Agree about centres.
They are a dying breed, agree on that totally.

| UNDERSTAND some of the clear concerns some saints fans are
expressing on here? Hull F.C can only play whats in front of them! If thats such a threat to saints second place then that just goes to show how well we've improved on last seasons performance , remember we finished almost bottom last season but still managed to put 16 points past saints in cup final,
Early days only forth round fortunatley we have managed to win all rounds so far,and still bedding in new players with more new signings to arrive yet, everything looking great at F.C, plus recovering players to come back.
CELTIC SEEM TO HAVE HIT SOME FORM TONIGHT!

One through cherry and white tinted glasses. I think it's fair to say we haven't overly impressed but have just got on with the job and ground out wins, similar to what we did in 2006 imo, we never had the same flair as Saints did that year but we was a verry effective team. I think this season is the same, I don't think we'll beat teams by masses like we did at times in 2004 under McRae but I think we'll be well drilled, I guess a lot depends on Thorman.

| Hull fan here
Saints often have shaky starts - I'm sure you'll be up there at the end of the season. Granted some of your players are getting on a bit but they are still class and come the harder pitches they will put more of a show on.
About Hull - we'll see. I think we have a mobile pack (not heard us been called big before) that will be better on the harder grounds. We've beaten Wigan, Cats and Huddersfield (all being lauded as major contenders) as well as Crusaders at their home. Did they all have off-days or does the opposition sometimes restrict the other team?
Also, I think Hull deserve a little credit for Huddersfield's handling errors - the pressure from defence has a lot to do with it. I do realise some were from very poor handling but often it was because they were either under pressure or trying to find ways through/around a pretty good defence. We do tend to let some soft tries in in the last minute though - at least three I can remember.
What I do know is that I like the big occassions between Saints and Hull - great fans from both sides and a good carnival atmosphere.

| Hull will be there or there abouts at the business end of the season. Leeds apart, and salford, celtic at the other end, the league will be much tighter this year

At least we fail quitely out of all the media, instead of finishing top of the table and still not being called champions.

| People have short memories, Hull are the side that broke the old "big 4" and apart from last year have been a force for 4/5 seasons. Leeds have had one big test this year (manly) and came up wanting, so who says they will come top? I think the top 4 will be quite tight this year.

| I rate Hull and think they will be in the top 4, although I would like to see how they go against us and Leeds before confirming such a prediction.
Re Hudds - I'm very excited about Scott Moore coming back - I think he and Robes could be a top combo
