| Quote ="SaintsFan"Oh stop being so precious. Widnes Vikings don't own the bloody stadium so this isn't a criticism of the Vikings for heaven's sake.
I complained to Halton Borough Council when we first went to Widnes because the stadium serves hot drinks in plastic cups which mean that you can't actually hold the bloody drinks after about 10 seconds as they get too hot. I wasn't the only one who complained; loads of people did. I received a thank you in reply and nothing was done. Still get hot drinks in plastic cups. So I take a pair of gloves with me and even when the weather has been shirt and shorts type weather, I've been there, watching the u20s with my gloves on, so I can drink my cup of coffee.
Maybe it is Halton Borough Council who are responsible for looking after the pitch as well? If so, I might complain and see if they will send me another of their cute emails thanking me for my message.

It could be raised as an elf and safety issue. Before I retired a couple of the big oil companies that I used to visit made their employees use cup holders for all hot drinks.

I complained via the Halton Council website because that is where I was directed to complain as Halton Council provide the catering facilities at Stobart Stadium. And yes, it is a health and safety issue, Rogues. I've seen children trying to hold on to cups of hot tea and their parents having to retrieve them, while unable to hold on to their own cup of hot tea. While that will be less of an issue should the summer prove to be a hot one, during the cold days (which account for most days at the Stobart, regardless of what the rest of the country is enjoying) it has been awful for some people. All it will take is for someone to drop scolding hot water on themselves because they can no longer hold the cup, especially a child, and Halton will have a legal case on their hands. As for me, I think laterally and take gloves.

And all the cups had to have lids on them.

Well, you see, you just agreed with me without actually realising. I said it wasn't the Viking's fault, so I don't know what you are going on about.

I didn't, idiot. I complained about hot water being served in plastic cups. You try carrying those cups for longer than 10 seconds when they are full of boiling hot water. Then come and apologise to me for being an idiot.

| All this about hot drinks served in plastic cups! The easy solution is drink nice cold beer.
It's tastes better and won't burn your hands.

Damn right. However, there are no buses. Mind you, not that having buses inspires Saints fans to travel to Widnes any more than it would had we gone to the LSV. I like the LSV. It's a smashing little stadium. Much nicer than the Stobart.

It would also have been the best way for you to watch SL as a spectator, seeing as Leigh will never make it.

| I can watch SL anytime I like, Saints, Wire, Salford and t'Humbles are all within a few miles.
I even watched Leigh fail badly in SL, so I assume you meant 'again'
Saints looked at LSV, they have trained there this year as well btw, but decided on Widnes. ST's with transport included at a premium of £2/3 a game to make it affordable, plenty parking for 50/60 coaches on site plus 1000+ cars plus local off site parking.
Its history now, good luck with your move.

The LSV is further away from St Helens than is Widnes. The club will have known that getting Saints fans away from St Helens, away from the pub, is a challenge at the best of times and so getting them to a place where there is no direct bus route or train route was never going to happen. Even though the LSV is a much better all round facility. As it is, we have only reached double figures once this season so far and that is because half of Warrington turned out for the first home game of the season. But I think it was a shame we didn't go to the LSV. I certainly would have travelled there.
