I think Scott Moore lost his confidence while at Hudds. He needs more time at club level before playing internationals. Unless Smith does some wonderful man-management, I can't see Moore's confidence rising in time to play the Aussies. I don't think we'll see him on Saturday.

As for Roby, some aspects of his game were fine but his timing was a bit out and he needs to practice his kicking game. I don't remember when he last played a full 80 minutes so he's probably got some adjusting to do, and fast.

I don't see why that game against Wales was played given that most of the team changed for France. It was a pointless exercise. Unless we delay the start of these internationals, or shorten the season to give more time between the season's end and the start of the internationals, there is not going to be enough time for an international team to gel before we are into the tournament. The Saints and Leeds guys only had three training sessions with the rest of the team before having to play France. That is ludicrous and needs addressing if the RFL hopes to encourage fans to take our international game more seriously.

I was disappointed with Smiths treatment of a young player like Moore on Friday.

The game was won with ten minutes to go. I would have given Moore a pat on the back, and said "go on Scott show us you are better than that first half performance, we KNOW you can do it"

he had a head injury I believe, sustained during his first (admittedly awful) spell.

i'm surprised people want pryce near the side after the season he had, never worth a spot, that said fullback is an issue for us.
I'd play a young side with experience in the forwards, atkins might be worth a shot as i dont see how including lee smith is helping us progress, isnt Clubb from quins a centre? whoever plays against Inglis has a tough job

Nearly every team has Gleeson and Senior in 3/4's guess that says it all about our squad. I agree Shenton and Smith are not good enough i would rather we stick with the tried and tested Gleeson has had a poor season but you know he'll be solid and Senior has been immense for Leeds all year.

so tony smith says we are playing a young team with a view to the next world cup.so why is he playing lee smith who is turning his back on our game and going to union?
martin gleeson may not have set super league alight this season but he is the best we have.he should play.

The world cup is good few years off yet so IMO half these young kids wouldn't be playing anyway.

I think the main aim should be winning the 4 nations no matter how old the players are.

We can then try and build on a good 4 nations and try and win world cup.

I'm an optimist but New Zealand and Austrailia have, in my memory never been better, both their squad are fantastic and as good as some of our players are, some of our internationals wouldn't get a NRL game, let alone SOO or NZ/OZ test side.

The point I'm making is I don't agree with this 4 nations is for building for the world cup.

We should pick our best players no matter about age. Senior has been better than shenton IMO so should be picked and same across the team.

I agree with senior, but not lee smith. At least younger centres will be playing against senior next year and can learn from him

lee smith sold his soul to the devil,he should be nowhere near the england set up.

The 2 best English centres IMO is gleeson and senior.

I'm not saying shenton won't become good player but he's got few years before world cup.

I just think any coach of any team in any sport should pick the team he feels will win the games.

Gleeson hasn't had his best year but is still very sound defensively and was playing well towards the back end of the year. He didn't get picked because he dared to want to leave Warrington and Smith has held a grudge against him for that.

Both Gleeson and Leon Pryce should have been selected as they're easily 2 of our best outside backs(i'd have played Pryce at centre) and we'd have been a better side with them in.

It's not like they're over the hill either.

I would put gleeson in the centres and pryce on the wing.

I also think rob burrow should be scrumhalf. No way should myler be in before burrow.

Either way they should both be in. It was our weakest area even with them in and Smith's done us no favours by taking them out. I could understand if by taking them out he was handing their positions to players he thought could take over long term but one of them in Lee Smith is off to Rugby Union at the end of this series(you couldn't make it up).

As for Burrow i like him but he offers little direction for the team from halfback and even though a good runner hasn't had his best season. I think the off seasons worth of rest will do him the world of good.

Unlike in the outside backs we actually have some quality options in the halfs.

Can't believe playin Pryce at cantre or on the wing is being discussed! It took him 8/9 years to find his best position, now he's found it, you want to move him back to the jack of all trade's! If he's not good enough to get in the squad as a 6, he's not good enough! Simple as that! The Aussies arn't going to play Cooper Cronk at centre, so why should we try it!
