Ive heard the same that Wire have offerd 40k and Leigh have accepted with them obviously wanting him go to Wire so they get money for him.
I thought we had signed him but i wont be surprised if we miss out, again!

Hoppy is a different player and will make a 13 in SL moving to prop when needed, great hands step and pace.

How much are you paying Powell? (serious question) I doubt it will be for the lunch money we got Mick and Paddy for. We were just doing our thing for Irish development like Wigan are for Wales with Rhodri Lloyd. I know you are only joking but you have to give credit when clubs that try to give players from expansion areas a trial, especially given we have a world cup coming up. There are too many people on rlfans that want us to close our game to anyone not 5 mins from the M62.
We will just have to see what happens with our signings but it would be annoying to lose out due to money. The guy either looks good enough for us or he doesn't, it should not be a case of doing everything on the cheap.

Nice try but apples and oranges. So I'll ask you again - do you consider Andy Powell, 31 yo RU player, signed as a first team member and not a youngster with 'prospects' to be a 'Harrods' level signing?
For the record I wouldn't disagree about some of Saints signings being far from top notch. But if you start chucking rocks....

I don't know how Powell will turn out He may be a flop or he may turn out to be a good signing, but let's wait until he's had a few games before dismissing him.

On a serious and objective note I think this level of signing, be it from RU, Ireland, potential up and coming Aussie etc, is what we can come to expect from all clubs. Agreed.
I also thing scouts should be looking at athletes from other sports (RU, athletics, football, basketball, Gaelic Football etc, etc) too see if they have potential to be RL players.
I'm not one of those who believe that we can't learn from other sports. |

Well, as always ill believe it when I see it confirmed by either Saints or Warrington, not before. As a veteran of the 'Irons in the fire' Saints of the 80's (and before) I never believe we have signed anyone until its confirmed officially.
That said, if the figure is correct, then Saints will have sunk to a new low in my eyes in being outbid for a young lad who wants to come here for the sake of £40k. |

One thing about it every team signs duds but in the short term memory of most fans I would say the best players of the summer era played for Saints Leeds and Bradford. At present I don't think the game actually has a world class English player playing in this country. Perhaps Robes Sinfield and Tomkins could count but the standard has fallen the last few years. I think it is a shame that Leigh are in this situation they have some really passionate fans in my opinion, and playing against miners was always really tough
