Sounds like a more sensible option as we have no obvious gaps.

A lot of people on here want a prop but we have several young props that could come through and give us too many options in that area.

We could go after a back (a winger according to the St.Helens secret handshake society) but we have plenty of cover there too and our first choice line up is pretty settled.

If someone comes up mid-season a lot of clubs will be up the cap and out of the running.

It's a nice position to be in where we can move for someone during the season should we be hit by injuries in a particular position or some NRL star disgraces themselves and needs a club over here

Or if another team goes into financial melt down

As far as I'm aware, the isnt much cap space to play with. We went for a winger and couldn't do the deal as we couldn't pay him enough due to the cap.

But you can gain cap space during the year surely. If you loan players out, you reduce predicted spending and bringing in partway through means the player costs less overall that year. So it gives us more wiggle room the later you leave it.

Not entirely true mate. Even if we had the space to pay what he wanted, I very much doubt we'd have paid that much for that player.

We have enough space to bring in an above average salary.

Cory Patterson is a decent signing for Salford, could probably have done a job for us.

Me too mate I agree, as long as they don't get stung with a few injuries. Their first 17 looks good but still lacking depth for me.

He's building tho, the squad getting bigger and better next year. I expect them to make about 5th this year and then build on that each year.

No issue, just don't think hes good enough. I hope he proves me wrong but I am entitled to an opinion.

And Josh. Josh is a very useful player. Not many can play second row and centre.

He has had problems in defence but so has every young winger in Super League; he isn't on his own though.

However in attack there are only a handful in this country more dangerous than he is.

The problem is Swift needs a settled centre alongside him to create an understanding partnership, I,ve watched in detail the Jones/Swift position, in my opinion it doesn,t work.

I think swift is a very good player.

I agree leave Swifty alone he can beat a man and just needs to improve his defensive duty's and he could play for England one day. Cracking prospect still young.
