Rather than just trying to be clever with insults! read what I stated, that many Daily Mail readers only know KC from the many letters of disgust at his hobby with guns! I did not express this as a personal opinion, though it is something that I would get no joy out of doing.

| Internal decision to be made next week at a board meeting, with an announcement to be made to the public within 2 - 3 weeks according to McManus.

| To add to the above:
There is a shortlist of four for the job, all of whom have been formally interviewed. One of these is a 'preferred option' of the chairman but he will not mention any names as you would expect.
Live on GMR now if anyone wants to catch it.

I'm guessing if it's a preferred option by the chairman then thats Meninga ? And he is still un-decided to come ? Otherwise the 'preferred' option would certainly just be signed and be done with it.

| Tony Colquit said on BBC Merseyside that the four were one UK and three overseas. Again didn't mention names as you would expect.

| It's a tough one. Menninga is making the right noises, we're obviously keen on Simmons as you don't fly half way round the world or make someone do that for nothing.
Purtill also seems to think he should get the job.
I wonder who number 4 is?

I think the issue is that there is a board meeting next week where the decision will be agreed internally then an announcement made by end of July.

I heard this about 4 weeks ago.Again like most gosssip i take it with a pinch of salt, especially as Potter has said he wants to go home. However, unlike most gossip, this story refuses to go away

He'd be a good choice for the bulls, who seem to have a limited squad with some good youngsters that need reviving.
He's basically worked with what he got when he arrived, except the addition of Tony Puletua and done very well at intergrating the youngsters, playing solid rugby and getting results.
As strange as it seems to say, I miss a strong bradford in SL and would like to see them return.

| Reading the article, I'd initially read it as likely to get Potter, with Brian Mac as assistant - probably till Potter got a head coach job in Oz. Others, very possibly rightly, read the article as its Potter OR Mac. So who knows! Thanks for input.

I could imagine them being a good team, with Potter as the schemer and Brian Mc as the "big stick". It may cost a lot, but if Mick just takes it as an interim post, then they may be able to get him a bit cheaper than normal.

| Potter to Bradford has legs. He's always said he wants to go home. But at the end of the day he will need to work when he goes back and like when he was leaving Catalans he wasn't offered anything in the NRL so had no choice but to join Saints.
Same situation now. He's got to feed his family so returning home to unemployment when he could get a high paid job at Bradford would seem rather silly.

Good move for the Bulls if it comes off. It's always been obvious that it's not been his decision to leave Saints so I think he would welcome the chance to stay in England.
He's got a declining side competitive again for us and would do the same for Bradford. He certainly leaves us in a much better place than we were in when he arrived.

| I may be alone here, but I'm not entirely convinced about Meninga. He'd clearly be a good motivator, and as an icon of the game would certainly command the respect of the players, initially, at least. This makes him ideal material for coaching Queensland, for whom his job is to get 17 of the best players in rugby league history up for the contest and working together over three games.
His club coaching record, where more sustained planning and tactical management is required, is poor, however. The obvious comparison is Ellery Hanley. At Saints Hanley gave a talented but ill-disciplined squad the shake up they needed, allowing them to just scrape through in the GF, but his tactical naivety was becoming apparent by the time he was sacked.
Another consideration - we'd be paying him a fortune, not for his coaching record, but because he's Mal Meninga.

But he'd be Mal Meninga so what would it matter? We'd be able to chant his name, he'd fist pump the crowd after we stuff the Pies and he'd cut such a cool figure stood on the side of the pitch at Old Trafford, suit and shades, jumping up onto Scully (Our Beckham-esque figurehead) Maradona stylee.
