If I had to describe his performance in one word, it would be 'fairy'. His name is very feminine and his performance was as well. He seems like a big lad who is unaware of his size. He tackles weakly, runs it in like he's Danny Arnold. There was one embarrassing moment where he was brushed by the Penrith hooker and span round in the air on the way to the floor.
Looks a very poor signing. I just can't see where he can play? He can't play in the backrow, he's not tough enough on that evidence. If he played on the same edge as Walsh and Turner we may as well give in now. He's not dangerous enough with the ball to play centre either.'"
I thought he looked decent with the ball when he came back for his second spell. I agree tho, his defence looked pretty awful and don't think I'd trust him in the centre with that defending.
To be fair, that's only his 5th game this year so might be a little rusty.

| Just caught the last 10 minutes of the Warriors being manhandled by the NQ Cowboys. Peyroux's defence is a real concern for me. In those 10 minutes he 'lost his hips' and let a try in. But from what I've seen so far the thing that strikes me most is how weak his contact is in the tackle. He's very passive and generally needs someone else to finish off the tackle for him - not good for a bloke his size. Hopefully I'm wrong and it just looks that way because the Warriors are struggling.

| He played centre again today. Very soft in defence again and let two tries in. I've got a feeling he's our new centre with Turner moving to loose.

The way he was played as a bal handler last game maybe points that way, but I just don't get it. Wilkin is a natural 13, or the closest thing we have got to one, and yet we play anyone there but him. LMS has played well at 13 as an extra prop, but I wish we would go back to having a proper LF there. Bring back the days of Harry Pinner, Arky, Shane Cooper, Scully. Leave turner in the centre where he has been ok this year.

My thoughts exacctly, they need to stop messing with Turner and just coach him to improve his defence.
Dom is a replacement for Jones not Turner, if next season Dom turns out a better option at centre then OK but don,t mess with our best attacking player as we come to the business end of this year.

So should we only recruit people with "hard" masculine names now then? Stacey Jones seemed to manage alright, and wasn't there a Tracey played for one of the NRL clubs a few years back?

Yeah, appearances are very important. We need a coach who looks cool in shades in Castleford in March and players who would scare people on a Russian building site.
Did anyone see Peyroux's performance this weekend? I've reassessed him and am now convinced he's the worst overseas signing we've ever made. I'd love to hear who's idea it was to sign him. He looks like a rabbit in the headlights, like he's 17 and has never played the game once. He's got that look Maurie had when he first signed, only without the excuse of never having played the game. His defense is absolutely appalling. He is consistently beaten by anyone stepping to his left and he has no physicality in the tackle at all. With the he looks petrified, darting about making exaggerated dummies until he's tackled. He never takes it in hard and in the three games I've seen he's not done a thing worthy of note.
I'm baffled as to why Jones couldn't have been replaced from the academy? Spend some of the considerable money it's taken to relocate Peyroux on a proper signing that might improve us. Peyroux is another Dawson. He'll play due to injuries, but he shouldn't be anywhere near the club. Our standards have definitely lowered.

Like WHO?
Josh Jones is a fully mature professional. You reach physical maturity somewhere between 22 and 23. Which academy player can we promote who will be physically mature next season?

You mustn't have watched Saints during the eighties and early nineties, then. I could pick an entire thirteen in which Peyroux would likely be the star man.

And combined they probably cost less than Peyroux and did need to be flown over and given a Mike Rush house to live in.
Prepared to give him a chance but he has all the tell tale signs of a complete dud.
At best he could become a Flannery which is not much of compliment.
A Derek McVey , Freddie T , George Mann, Apollo he ain't.

To be honest, I'm not sure he needs to be up to Flannery's standard to fulfill his obligations. Bear in mind that Flannery was an experienced State of Origin player with a solid track record in the NRL.
I'm completely baffled why a guy we are getting on the cheap to replace a bit-part player whose recent form scarcely warrants first team inclusion can generate page after page of outrage.
Before damning Peyroux before he's played so much as a game people really need to think seriously about Josh Jones' current standard of rugby. There isn't a cat in hell's chance that Jones (at his current level) would be a first team player at the Warriors.
If we've signed a guy the Warriors are prepared to play first grade (no matter his performance) - then it tells me Saints have bought a better player for wages they weren't prepared to give Jones. In other words - a win.
But seriously, we're talking about perhaps the 20-oddth most important player in a Saints shirt next season. Talk about outrage overkill...

Presumably Long has worked with him in the Samoa setup in the last couple of years, so probably knows him pretty well.
You never know with these overseas lads, some come big reputations and big wage bills and fail to deliver, whereas some come with no expectation and turn out to be outstanding signings. Many more, of course, come with no reputation and turn out to be turnips.

Josh Perry looked like a world beater...a big, aggressive, State of Origin hard nut who knocked Jamie Peacock off his perch when he tried it with him and he WAS the worst overseas signing we ever made imo...
If Long has worked with him in the Samoa set up he must have seen something in the lad to want to bring him over here, and will reserve judgement on him until he has played for us. As said above, a lot of players have looked great in the NRL and come over as complete failures

Same goes for many successful Kiwis during the eighties and early nineties.

3 I believe, but they will have also had training camps etc where a coach will be able to see things from a player just as easily in a game. In all honesty, I havent seen enough of the guy to comment whether he will be good or not for us. My point is that a lot of big name, international "stars" have come over and been terrible so to judge a guy before he has pulled our shirt on and played is a bit harsh imo

| Hopefully it will be the case that, since h's not an established star, he wont take anything for granted and give 100% whilst at the same time, the fact he's got NRL experience may buoy his confidence enough to increase his performance.
Fingers crossed. He does seem like the Samoan Matty Dawson.

| I wouldn't read too much into that article. The Warriors stink as a club in terms of attitude. They had a chance to break into the upper echelons when Daniel Anderson was there, but the club buckled to player power and have suffered ever since. The appointment of a rookie in McFadden has been a predictable disaster. The Warriors players helped get rid of Matt Elliott, then performed (a bit) for McFadden, who then got the gig. Since then the players have again cruised through two seasons.
The best hope for the Warriors is to get a genuinely experienced coach in and have the club back him, including dumping some of the players that seem to think its all about showboating and not about winning.
