It's just sentiment , I knew we'd wedge him in , he was so terrible when played in the pack and when played in the halves that to use him there would be suicide so instead we'll persist with 'good old hard working Mr St Helens' plodding the ball back on kick returns hoping the opposition dont do a Danny Brough and pin us in our own 20 for half an hour with early kicks.

If we insist on ruining Lomax we should at least stick Hohaia or Makinson at 1 to give us a bit of pace at the back

Even tho I think lomax is the best fullback at the club and should be our number 1, I think we should play him 6 at the moment as it gives us a better balance. He will bring threat with the ball allowing O'Brian to dictate play.

Wello can't play anywhere else so it makes sense for lomax to play 6, rather than wello.

Like I said, I think he's the best fullback at the club but for the teams sake he has to play stand off with O'Brian at 7. Picking wello isn't sentiment as IMO he's the 2nd best fullback at the club.

However, I do agree that wello should not be offered another deal and the number 1 shirt next year should go to lomax as Walsh will be our 7.

I like having wilkin at 13 as he can act as another pivot with O'Brian as lomax is a runner more than a ball player. I feel the team does give us extra in attack a d that's something we've been missing.

I think it will change by the time kick off comes. I wouldn't be shocked to see Thompson come in at 13, wilkin drop to stand off and lomax in the bench.

I've no idea, I don't bother trying to guess the last minute changes, it's too unpredictable.

I disagree mate. I think we are struggling that bad in the halves that lomax has to play there and IMO wello is the next best fullback.

I think Brown has favoured wello in the past by playing him loose and stand off but I think he's got it right with this team. The balance is better with this team.

Lomax when fit. If I were in charge Wellens wouldn't be here now let alone being rumoured to be offered a new deal.

Even if we are forced into playing lomax at 6 we have better options at 1 than wello.

Whilst my line up would be different. I can understand that if Lomax is not FB, then Wello is number 2.

I have no doubt that Makinson is a faster paced player, but he does not organise the defense as well as Wellens. Also you take Makinson off the wing, then you weaken the wing.

If Lomax is not going to play 1, then Wellens should. I would not be talking new deal. With Walsh here next year, there should be no need for Lomax at 6 or 7.

I wonder if we can get GOB, for next year??? That would give us a 6 and 7. Then really we just need props. If we can hire him for a month, then we have cap space available?

I think GOB would be a good signing , he's down the pecking order at Dire and it would be nice to have competition in the halves with Wheeler ,GOB and Walsh . We should simply not even be considering offering Wellens a contract with Makinson, Lomax, Hohaia and Swift in the squad with us looking like we are trying to recruit another another body for the wing.
