Ok, lets look at it another way, would he have been offered another contract had he wanted one?

It's blatantly obvious that he didn't want the job in the first place. His heart was set on an NRL job post-Catalans but when no one offered him anything and with the strong pound he had no choice but to come here. He doesn't seem, from the outside anyway, to have put much into the role, he's certainly not emotionally attached to the club or it's players like the other coaches have all become, even Anderson, Hanley and McCrae looked like they would cry if we lost and you could never accuse them of not caring.

Scully's comments sum up Potter's personality perfectly. His detachments isn't necessarily a reflection on his coaching ability, but Scully hints at his lack of ability to properly motivate the players. You need to either be close to or have a big respect for someone if you are to be inspired by them. He has never got the fans on his side either.

Now it seems the club have known his wish to return to the NRL for a long time and have been looking for a while, I doubt this is a shock to anyone. But Mick may well be hit with another curve ball as I certainly can't see him getting a top level job in the NRL. Perhaps an assistant role somewhere.

I imagine he would've been yes, considering the improvement on the performances and the kids this season, in comparison to last season. Now we have to start at the beginning again.

But we don't know why the team is performing reasonably well (very well indeed on the last two occasions), we just know they pulled out something after the Hull match because they quite clearly changed, for whatever reason. That the kids are better this year than last is no real surprise, is it? They cut their teeth last year, they now know what they are dealing with, they have bulked up a bit, and they were a talented bunch of youngsters at the academy/reserve level so presumably they are now in the business of finding the level of that talent.

And none of that is down to Potter, the COACH?

It could be. Or it could be other coaches' work coming to fruition. Who knows?

Who is desperate for a scandal? All I have seen is some people supporting the coach and others remaining unconvinced, whilst discussing possible replacements.

There's little doubt a hardcore group of Saints fans have done their best to undermine Potter (perhaps even finished him) with at best faulty and worst - downright deceitful reasoning. If that wasn't bad enough they are now gutlessly attempting to airbrush their stinking, cowardly role out of history.

But we KNOW the names. The same names who bash Flannery. The same names who think Dixon & Ashurst aren't Saints material (expect the same frantic airbrushing in the wake of Dixon's outstanding performances lately) etc. etc.

They'd better HOPE McManus doesn't drop a clanger and hire a disaster (a very real possibility) because the flak will definitely come their way.
