I can`t see Eastmond joining us to be honest because we must be fairly close to the salary cap, the only way i could see it happening is if we released a player.

As an example, if Saints were to release Eastmond you would need a quality replacement, i guess we could do a player exchange with you where you get someone like Jon Clarke with Eastmond coming the other way plus cash, i`m not sure what the difference is that you would have to pay us but that could be sorted out. You`d be getting a Great Britain international, we would just be getting a raw prospect.

He's probably as likely to talk to Wire as to any club if he doesn't go to Union and decides against Saints. Last time we had this fiasco with Kyle he ended up saying how he really wanted to play for Saints, etc, etc, once he had signed his deal. I'm sure Warrington were mentioned back then, too.

I hope Saints manage to sort out everyone's deal before the season starts as it's a bit unsettling going into a new season wondering whether a number of our best players actually want to play for Saints. But I suppose these things cannot be rushed.

If Kyle does decide to go to Union/A N Other RL club then I hope he is dropped for a goodly amount of matches and Simmons focuses on developing our other halfback talent.

Kyle is a great player who I would love to see at Saints in 2012 and beyond. However, if he chooses to leave then I would much prefer Saints to focus upon the future no.7 rather than the one that has decided to go. That might not be possible as Lomax and Wheeler are both sixes and Gaskell is very, very new. But if we do have a local no.7 who has real talent then I would rather he be bloodied this season so that in 2012 he could step up, with Leon as his halfback partner.

Eastmond is a brilliant player, one which we'd all love to see playing alongside Tomkins in the halves for England but given his current injury record, could we honestly say if he left Saints/England/RL would miss him? IMO thats arguable, considering the amount of games he missed last season.

People are forgetting behind every first team SL player is a talented youth raring and ready to go. Saints, Wigan, Leeds - just about any club could have the next 'Kyle Eastmond'. For me it wouldn't be such a huge loss as people presume.

The game can't afford to lose a substantial talent like Kyle's.
The RFL have to do something about the state of our game or we will eventually be completely swallowed up by the union juggernaut.

As someone who enjoys both league and union,I'm still struggling to see where he would play at union.His greatest asset is his broken play running,but essentially,unless you make a clean break at union,if you get caught in possession,you tend to give away a penalty at the breakdown.
He certainly couldn't play 9 or 10,not inside centre,but possibly outside centre and even allowing for Jason Robinson,his size will go against him on the wings or at 15.Essentially,he is made for league and would be a huge risk at union unless he changes his game drastically,which would then take away his strengths

Word on the street is that Kyle is busy parading himself around on Union shopping trips and rubbing Saints' noses in it while they are paying his wages.

The guy is still contracted to Saints and a week before the start of the season this is a bit off IMO.
