I actually thought Albert had all the tools to be a phenomenal full back.

Plus he used to have his own stool in Crystals on the odd occasion I found myself there (you knew you were absolutely ruined when you'd visited that establishment). He was always in Crystals.

Ade Gardner has dramatically improved his game no end since he joined us. Admittley in his early career with us some of his defensive play was utterly appaulling infact at times non existant but he has improved beyond belief and is probably now the best Super League Winger in the competition

people might raise a few eyebrows about gilmore,but he has been one of our standout performers since we signed him.in a few years i think graham will be a better prop than anderson was,but we are talking now.
it just shows what great teams we have had when i have left out the likes of
prescott,newlove,iro,goulding,britt,gleason,hunte,and most of the current team.what a great club!

Allways thought Bob G was the real deal number 7 for us, and started all our goodness. But he has been overtake by the GREAT Sean Long, Long has been the king dong for many years now and only Eastmond may be better, or Lee Briers son maybe...

Long needs go 7, remove Ade and stick in Albert, the forwards are the headache, far to many big men to choose from with the likes of Farleigh, Britt, Baloo, AP, Tony P, Joynty, Scully, Jammer, Fas, Sonny Nick, Freddy T, Derrick McVey, and the man that was Adam Foggy....oh I give up now.


Just get Albert and Longy in there though.

Pace to burn in the backs and monster forwards that are also mobile with good skills

The question is the best player in each position and although Long has been a fantastic player for us for so long he is and never will be the scrum half Bobby G was.

Sorry but they ARE the facts.

If Bobby had given us 10 years at the level he gave us 2/3 he would be considered as good as the Legend that is Murphy!

The facts are that Bobby G had it all and self destructed.
Long therefore get the honour for doing the business of a period of time not merely a one season wonder.

I won't argue with that.

Bobby did have it all and I think we did well to get three season's out of him.

And yes I will admit in the cold light of day that you would go for Long after all he has done but I just wanted to make the point!

Plenty of talent left out there as well. Martyn for Pryce as a ball playing stand off would suit the pace in the back line. Sticking Gidley or Iro in the centres wouldn't let the team down, and there have been too many good forwards to mention.

I found it very hard to pick the bench as there are several players in contention, apart from Graham who had to be in there for me. The starting 13 definatly picks it's self, IMO.

I would expect Puletua to come into the reckoning as his stay goes on.

He gave us 18 months of complete toss though as well. '97 and up to his sacking in '98 he was frankly an embarrassment.

Long is not as naturally gifted as Bobbie was, but he worked hard on his game and has made himself one of THE major ingredients of the most successful spell in the club's history. I'd have him in my team ahead of Goulding any day.

On another note, I can't believe how spoiled we've been with centres. The fact that not a single person has picked Martin Gleeson shows what lashings of quality we have had in that position.
