I don't think we are putting any sort of pressure on the RFL. I'm sure they are big enough to make decisions of their own volition.

or they will wait to see if the RFL hand him a ban that saints feel fits the punishment? maybe if they feel the RFL are being too lenient they will refer it to the police. its what i would do, it could also be games from saints camp to ensure he does get a hefty ban to make sure RL isnt dragged through any more mud.



same here matey, i live in london and have done for 4 years. i can count on a single hand the amount of times RL has been mentioned on the local radio, yet all of a sudden ts part of every sports bulletin. this incident has done a lot of damage to our great sport and soured your great win.

What happened was entirely disgusting and has no place in any sporting arena. I too am in the camp of 'what happens on the pitch stays on the pitch.' Incidents happen in everyday life that people regret all the time, it's what makes us human. Ben Flower could probably not feel any worse than what he does now... He let his team mates, his coaching staff, Wigan RL and their fans down... But mostly he has let himself down. The RFL will deal with it how they see fit, and for me that should be the end of it. Too much bad press has already been created about the incident and has certainly taken the gloss off what was a truly stunning victory in the face of adversity.

Lets all look forward to see who is the new coach going to be, what other players are yet to come in and celebrate our Grand Final Victory like we should have been doing since Saturday Night. COYS

Excellent post. What's done is done and can't be changed or excused. But I'll guarantee that when the ban is announced some Wigan fans will say it's too harsh and some Saints fans will say it's too lenient.

Flower cut a very forlorn figure at last nights awards dinner at Wigan, but fair play to the lad for turning up, it would have been much easier for him to stay away.

Given the national coverage of this incident, I wouldn't be surprised for Flower to have the book thrown at him and it be 12+ games and a big fine. It's not just him in the media, the RFL will be under the spotlight too, given all the comments from outside the RL community since Saturday.

Exactly. Let's put it like this - in all forms of justice there is the basic tenet that [i'you commit the crime and you serve your time'[/i. Thereafter what kind of planet would we be on if people were pilloried and disadvantaged forever because of something stupid? He's a 27 year old lad, I was one of them once and messed up then more times than I can recall now.

Nobody, not Wigan, not Saints, not the RFL, not the vast majority of people who saw it (save for micro brain cells like Mr Hock but who takes him seriously anyway) condones it in the slightest. But the reaction has gone too far and the lad, who I believe is as penitent as it is possible to be, needs to serve his punishment and be allowed to get on with his life and career - as long as he's learned that indiscriminate violence has no place in any sport (or society for that matter).

First punch was a great shot and part of the game IMO, second one might be the worst thing I've ever seen on a rugby pitch! RFL need to deal with it, 8-12 game ban and end it there. I can't be the only one sick of it being the talking point of a great Saints win.

What did you make of Wigan's flaccid performance? I thought we dominated you good and proper to be honest, our boys were too strong and tackled too well. Wigan could have had 15 on the pitch and you wouldn't have got close in the second half. The way Makinson patrolled the backline, nothing would have got through. Our young pack marmalised yours TBH, Thompson and Richards, LMS, Sia, Manu, Walmsley, Mose. It's no wonder Wigan offered so little and were forced to fling it about in the vain hope of breaching our line. If anything the red card just made it a lower score, we knew we'd won in the 2nd minute so just strangled you out of the game, had you had 13 I think we'd have put the hammer down with the ball and racked up 30? You agree?
