Just got back from the game (free ticket). Wigan looked very very rusty and there kicking game was shocking. Larne Patrick scored a cracker. Hudds were nothing special at all but they got stuck in and did a Wigan on Wigan by slowing the game to a crawl at times.

Dont right off the pies yet, however the signs arent positive for Wigan.

Have been saying i think they are week in the pack, and the fact the coach was moaning about poor kicking game is an indication that the halves were on the back foot, probably due to the forwards not being able to get field position. Now for this to be the case against a Huddersfield team with a pack of forwards many barely out of their teens on the park, should be of concern to them.

Next week will give another indication were they are. Leeds will be close to full strength and will have a far stronger pack than Huddersfield put out. If the pies win, then the hudds match can be seen as a blip. A heavy defeat and the alarm bells will be ringing.

There's always something to dislike aboutem isn't there.Now theyve got a coach saying will win everything and blames slowing down on other teams.Early days yet though

I had to laugh earlier as I was listening to the phone in on BBC Radio Manchester and a Wigan fan phoned in, basically castigating the team and Wane in particular. He got on about Lauaki and said 'I've seen milk turn quicker.....it's like it's a knockout when he gets the ball'.

Listened to the same phone in. Was it the same guy who said Wayne was was talking nonsense saying they had had a great pre-season as they lost a fair few and barely put out a full team.

I've not been a fan of us having 1 pre-season game, but at least the full team had a run out. That's about as good as 5 pre-season games with only 2 or 3 playing each time.

For years I (and just about every other Saints fan) thought THAT was self-evident. Pies are The Enemy and all other animosities are rescinded. Then a strange new breed of Saints fan arrived on the scene that were/are more fixated with beating Warrington, Leeds & Bradford. Oddly enough this coincided with Saints' recent dip in form (relatively speaking) ...

Beating the pies has always been top of my list……Dire have improved a lot over recent years so the challenge is harder and therefore a more satisfying win than it used to be.
