So far this season, i think Potter has been OK if i'm being honest. We seem to be playing much more attacking, and he's also spoke out a few times and had a bit of a go at the referees, which i didn't think he had in him! Definatly better than last year, but we'll see.

Morgan isn't beyond the realms of possibility. He's always been positive about us during his media work (Which is excellent). He's also a coach that would be a great fit at St Helens, he has personality and charisma and could certainly get the desire back, both on the field and on the terraces. He's also taken KR as far as he can.

Morgan is a media whore who doubles as a RL coach.
Kear would be a massive coup, a motivator with a vast amount of knowledge of the game, something according to posters on this forum seem to think Potter lacks.

If Jammer does actually go it will be a sad day for the club. This is the first I've heard on the matter, and came as a horrible shock when I saw it. We're gonna have to sign one hell of a prop to come anywhere near filling Jammer's boots.

I read that and it seems as if he is getting a bit fed up with all the speculations last season and now as to where and when he is going. He is staying put.

I read that too. From what he says he does sound sick of the rumours, even though he doesn't deny that he may consider a move to the NRL at some point in the future. He does say though that he is very happy at Saints and he is going nowhere else, which to me is as firm a statement of intent as anything.

John Kear as Saints coach?

Good lord, have you taken leave of your senses? He's a mid table coach that is good at motivating his team occasionally.

And he's not very good at maths, allegedly.

Kear hates Saints.

He picked Phil Cantalon over Cunningham when he was the GB U21s coach and he has already turned us down once when we offered him a job. So we went if and pinched Leighs coach instead if I remember correctly.



Kear isn't a great coach. He struggles to win game week in week out. He is much better at a club that expect to only win half their games.

John Kear is exactly the coach we needed last season and this. He is a superb coach at getting the best out of his players. At Wakefield he is extracting every ounce of ability from them. If he were our coach we wouldn't be losing to the likes of Hull KR.

If Saints can find a Maguire/Smith type coach from the NRL then fine, but it HAS to be someone charismatic to fit the club and it has to be someone who can inspire average players to greater things.

Let's look at this reasonably. Kear has scraped wins against very poor Quins and Catalans sides by 8 points. He then beat a distracted Leeds team at a time when they also lost to a poor Castleford. They then lost to an injury hit Saints team before getting mullered to nil by Huddersfield. They did OK last week, but Hull KR conspired to chuck it away from a commanding position.

Kear is not good enough for Saints. He's a mid table coach and does well getting the best out of some limited players. He was an absolute disaster as England coach and oversaw the worst England performance I can remember at home in the semi final v NZ in 2000.



Saints' squad is not average, you are becoming a cliche. Which is a shame because you make some good points when you're not playing up to some online character.

It is, and it will only get weaker. Perhaps when the Wire win at Saints you'll realise that times have changed and we're no longer one of the top teams in SL.

The Wire squad is indeed excellent. They may well beat us but if they do, it does not make our squad average. Nor would it mean our squad is better that Warrington's if we beat them.

It's not as easy as that. Unless you think us hammering Bradford away and Wigan losing to them at home makes us vastly superior to Wigan?

I seem to remember you knee jerking about home much better Hull are than Saints after one injury hit performance in bad conditions, but we're now above them in the table and they have lost to Crusaders. Warrington have played 2 games against the big boys - they've won one and lost one. If they lose to us, they've lost 2 from 3 against the challengers.

Perhaps we should wait until at least half way through the season before the likes of Wellens/Gidley/Meli/Pryce/Eastmong/Graham/Cunningham/Puletua/Wilkin/Roby/Moore/Maurie/Flannery etc are written off as nothing more than average.
