you do have a point though in how the rest of our squad would take to playing alongside someone who has done what he has done to a one time team mate.

Quite right king James! Warrington nor wigan adorn the entrance of their stadia with a statue of a heroic drug cheat. They long for saints' morals.

Very disappointing to see him sign for Leeds. Firstly Leeds get probably the best British backrower for probably well less than his true market value. Secondly we don't get him. You could argue it's too big a signing for us with our small-club mentality.

Hopefully that's true means we have about 100k left over on salary cap. Means we could do a mid season transfer. Plus his a cu#t so glad his not working round these parts

I remember when Everton used to try and attract the top names, knowing full well that a. they wouldnt sign for them anyway and b. they couldnt afford them anyway, but at least it looked good in the press to the fans

It's a bit like getting worked up about not signing Gareth Hock.

On paper he's a good player. But if we signed him and he suddenly started playing up and causing a ton of backroom friction the club would get slaughtered.

On grass he's an even better player

Yeah definitely. But Saints have a zero risk policy. If it's costly, we don't do it. If it's a punt, we don't do it. If it could make us win a trophy, we don't do it. McManus is in full on Arsene Wenger mode, do enough to fool the fans into turning up and give the impression we're a big club whilst not putting a penny towards actually winning anything. A lot of people on here jutify it becasue of the business side of things and the sustainability it brings, but it's not like we're even any good at the business side of things. We don't even make a profit, which is something Leeds manage to do whilst winning all the trophies as well.

The Sleeve has actually persuaded a lot of them that they really should be paying the club rather than the other way round

If you look at the outgoings and imcomings of players in the last years it's about what you'd expect for Leeds with their salary structure .

Plus, Ferres and Falloon are on one year deals and can't see either being on a big wage due to the situations both got themselves into.
Achurch will be leaving at the end of the season or earlier and some expect Mullally and Mulhern? To be on season long loans that might become permanent.

Given the situation he was in at Hudds then Leeds held all the cards when it came to negotiations,could be a heavily back ended contract.

Ferres, like Justin Carney, could entirely afford to sit back until the right offer came in, so I doubt he'd of come "on the cheap" - but as said, Leeds transfer movements don't seem particularly out of line
