Yes.
Attacking rugby as a whole has moved on a lot, so we'd need someone to sort that, but Anderson gave us steel and would be a good man to oversee that we have the right standards in place with regard discipline, conditions and professionalism.

| A coaching team of DA, KC and SL sounds like a winner for me. Longy Certainly improved Salfords attack when he was there , KC seems to be the man in waiting for the top job at some point and DA knows the club, gets on well with the management and has bags of experience .. and as mentioned looks cool in shades

Whoever the coach is, I would 100% bring longy in as attacking coach.

| Is Longy fit of mind to be back coaching. Don't want to be adding to his stress too much

| I don't see Big Mal coming back over here now and not convinced about his ability as a club coach either.
I don't see Daniel Anderson coming back either. He seems settled outside of coaching and has set up a business now hasn't he?
David Fairleigh is quite likely IMO.

| We had some good years under DA, should have achieved more if anything. He seems to be liked at Parramatta, general manager there now a few seasons after a mixed time as coach. Not sure he is the answer or that he would come here at this stage.
Would certainly prefer him to Cunningham and hopefully the rumours that he doesn't feel ready are true, as frankly I'd be surprised if he was up to it yet.

I personally don't want big Mal but I'm told he has this aura round him that rubs off on players.
I think fairleigh is looking favourite out the names mentioned but I'm not sure how and who he's coached previous but seem to think he was USA coach in last World Cup.

Cook Islands wasn't it? I don't think he's ever been head coach in NRL.

Yes think it was Cook Islands.
Not sure I want a complete novice, we've made huge steps in last two years and can't have a novice learn his trade and us suffer a setback

To be fair to Fairleigh he's had a much longer apprenticeship than KC. But I know what you mean. I think I'd like to have KC as coach with an experienced figure like Anderson or Sheens as director of rugby.

| I'm surprised nobody has mentioned paul rowley yet. Leigh are really well coached.
I know it's at a lower level and would be a big risk, but I'd rather go with him than someone with no head coach exp.

| I'd take DA as he'll bring rigid structure to our side which we need somewhat. You can certainly count on the defence being tip top and then we'll have plenty flair in the backline to trouble other teams.
I have reservations about Meninga as being a full time club coach and bringing players together for a few weeks are very different. The players are effectively 'coached' elsewhere whilst Mal just has to gel them together.
Tim Sheens would be my pick out of the rumours. Experienced, proven and just a great coach.

Potentially some value to be had if you take Eddie Cunningham's Twitter comments at face value. Can't see Sheens giving up the Australia gig for Super League. Anthony Griffin?

I was more concerned Millward was!
Interesting there's odds though, lots of names mentioned that I've not seen on here and vice versa...

I wouldn't be surprised if he could be coaxed away from Wire. Would you be happy with him?

Yes, although another "give-nothing-away" laid-back Aussie might not win over any more fans than Brown did.
I think Smith is a very good coach, and also a good judge of horseflesh. He'd do.
However, I also wouldn't be too disappointed if we landed Sheens, Meninga or Fairleigh.
I'd be appalled if we got McNamara.
I can't quite work out what I'd think if we got Noble.

| Retiring Warrington hooker Michael Monaghan has landed a Super League coaching role, but it's not with the Wolves, could he be coming to Langtree park.

Very clever player, I'd be happy to have him on the staff. He won't be head coach anywhere though so could be any of the clubs.

| That list just shows the paucity of options available really (I can only assume they have mistaken Rob Powell for Darrell Powell).
McNamara, Agar, Edwards, Noble, Kear, Potter, Millward, Rush, Wellens and Long will be nowhere near it. Sheens wont give up on the Aussies to come to SL at his age (and lest we forget was removed as Wests' coach to be replaced by the dream team of Potter and Simmons, which maybe says something about his club coaching credentials).
Meninga has never really done it at club level, so would probably represent too large a risk, even if he wanted to come. After the Simmons saga, I cant see McManus appointing another unproven Aussie assistant (and I think that well has been bled dry anyway in recent years).
Which leaves: Griffin, Powell (Darrel), Anderson, Cunningham or Fairleigh as the only contenders IMO.

If Mal wanted to come over, we'd be crazy not to consider it. He doesn't have much club level coaching, but it's the same amount as Anderson when he came over, with a similar record too. Mals affect on the players is well reported and no one can doubt his record in SOO. It would hardly be gambling on an unproven aussie.

| I can't even compute the prospect of Mal coming.
I would like to DA in a director of rugby, with Daisy as head coach. We should look at getting Long onto the team, his affect on Salford's attacking game was immense and he had a massive impact on Matty Smith's career.
I'm pretty sure Long's emotional home is at Saints and it may do him a world of good to be back here if he can contribute.
KC to continue as assistant.
If Wello wants to start coaching, then he has to start with the under 15s, then in a couple of years, if he's doing well, move him up to under 19's, then if he can make a decent fist of that promote him to assistant coach. Don't let him get fast tracked like KC did, it does no good for anyone.
