| Quote ="bewareshadows"Lets just keep the faith for a few games. They will have off games and good games, lets not hit the panic button when the mistakes do happen and start dragging out all the old aussie names we can think of.
When Wilkin returns lets leave him at loose rather than stick lomax back in the centres. I'm sure Gaskell will have no issue playing only the occasional match when Pryce returns and same goes for lomax.
Gaskell seams to be the kicker and Lomax the runner so it maybe that Gaskell keeps his spot when Pryce returns, even though lomax caught the lime light tonight.'"
Or Pryce at 13, Lomax and Gaskell in the halfs with Wheeler as back up when he's fit. Loads of atttacking options, plus development of the squad for when Pryce leaves at the end of the season.

I could live with that and have suggested it before but wiser men than me have said that Pryce would not work well in the defensive line as a loose forward with much more work to do.
I think everyone knows when fit PRyce can run devistating lines, so will not be surprised to see the kids take a back seat for one season.
I do think we need to keep Wilkin at loose. The kids may step up and get through alot of the season, but we need cover if one of them should fail to make the grade next year.

| LOMAX ROCKED the place tonight....That lad looks dangerous everytime he gets the ball when playing in this position....He looks solid in every position he plays in but he shown pure class and fast footwork tonight, spun in every tackle and broke the line well.
If we bench him again this season we will make a big mistake............Keep him on the field and in this position!!!
Good all round team performance and has shown all of the fans that the team can come together and perform well!!!!
Lets ensure all the fans who were stating they were not coming back after last week take note and get behind these guys as they put their bodies on the line tonight for the win!
Well done!

Yep all good, Keep eastmond out. But it's one game, lets not get carried away. Leeds played well but they are not Wigan.
We are not world beaters yet and the kids will make errors,. let's not batter them for it. Just hope they improve on average over the season.

| I first saw Lomax & Gaskell playing for Saints under 16 v Wests on their Australian tour in 2006, they both dominated the game and i thought they combined well in the halves, Lomax got man of the match in that game and Foster scored a try as well.

| I thought Lomax was very good. Gaskell improved out of sight this week with a faultless performance. Roby is just Roby.
The above said, I agree with the MoM. Foster was solid all game in defence and attack, but those were real pressure kicks off the touchline and his try was like something out of the NRL.

| Very impressed with lomax @ 7 . Let him have a go at making the shirt his own for the next few games. Regardless of who plays there though I'd rather put Meli in at 7 before Ea$tmond
Gaskell looked far better this week but I think some of that is because he had a halfback partner providing some support

| Lomax really is an all action player! Loves taking on the line and his 2nd effort when they've managed to get hold of him makes him look even more dangerous!
Gaskell, and to a degree, Scott moore added the steady hand to keep us going the right direction.

| Basically we where just a whole team for once. Everyone played to their ability. Even with some guys out there who probably would not normally play. ie Wellens - ribs, Clough and TP - diseased midweek.
Lomax injured on Friday night.
All stood up and provided the effort, even if they had lost I would have been pleased with the effort.

The more stories you hear about Lomax the more emarkable a yongster he sounds.
We know he plays with a steel plate in his head.
Clarke's anecdote about him taking the refs exam and getting 100% was interesting.
Someone, (i think Ski) posted a story about seeing him out on the town with his mates, and he was drinking water when they were all sloshed.
Royces words about his confidence in their meeting midweek.
Add to that he seems like a committed defender as well as a good attacker, he sounds like the type of kid any coach would want.

Well rumour was one of them had tonsilitus (sorry for spelling). Not sure which it was????
But both were rumoured to be doubts to play. TP was great going forwards and the more we get of that the better.
Looks like the injured are still a few weeks away so same team again next week for mine. Nice not to have any injuries after this one for a change.
Lets hope we don't rush people back before they are ready, the league is looking very fluid at the moment with teams up and down.

| You guys have some exceptional young talent epitomised by Lomax. Looked like he had been playing SH his whole life.
Whenever you lot apparently fear been hammered by Leeds you beat us (apart from the GFs of course )...and beat us convincingly.
Is it all a thinly disguised attempt to lull Leeds into a false sense of security ? Meli looked a good centre with power and a decent pass or two to his goalkicking/ juggling sensation wingman.....Weller is a great positional FB and looked class.....what's wrong with y'all ? Stop ya complaining.

You're correct about Lomax not drinking, but then again I am led to believe that Eastmond doesn't drink either.
As for Lomax being a Wiganer, sadly not, all his family are staunch Saints supporters.

| I've said on these boards before that I've never seen Lomax do anything to justify his positive reputation, but last night he did. If he can do more of that sort of stuff, and stay injury-free, then getting rid of Eastmond's salary and ego will be a decent bit of business.

| Lomax did nothing more last night than he did on his debut at Wakefield away almost two years ago.
The common denominator in both those games was getting lots of ball close to the ruck where his footwork plays havoc with big forwards that don't have good lateral movement in defence.
He's wasted at centre and wing because he's up against players who can re-adjust quicker and have more pace.
His sidestep is a bit reminiscent of Lee Briers'. Unlike Briers, however, he has enough pace to exploit it.

| Jonny was phenomenal last night. Has been one of our few bright sparks all season at centre, but really relished the responsibility of playing 7 and could have a big future there in the halves.
Amazing what a difference it makes when you have a 7 who takes the ball to the line and plays square!
