| When I read this story earlier on in the week I thought it may well be regurgitated on here. Alas your correct. McIlorum isn't anywhere near the standard of Roby. But he did play well against Leeds and if Wane feels that by coming out with this spiel it'll help McIlorum's confidence and in turn game, so be it.

| With his 0 breaks, 0 assists and 0 tries, he's right on Roby's tail this year.
He's so dangerous it hurts!

| Roby for me is the best hooker in the world and also got to be in the top ten players in rugby league.
I'd have a good bet he's got the best stats In The world. Breaks, tackles, meters, assists I'd like to see anyone better.
I think this year he's took the mantle off jammer and has started to infulance the team more than he did last year.

Let's hope he's got a few more similar soundbites to embarrass the Pies with.

Roby would probably have better stats than any other player in the world, he's class. Wouldn't suprise me if the Aussies came sniffing.

| I think the Wigoon Coach is judging the player on just one game against Leeds. If the coach bothers to compare Roby's Superleagues Stats against McLlorum Stats its absolutely mind blowing and shows up that Roby is 4 times the player McLlorum is. Roby is already double the stats after just 2 games this season , as the wigan fans say FIOS.

Don't be daft! I'd have Robinson and Burrow over him as a replacement option for England. McIllorum is a good defensive player, but crucially he offers zilch in attack.
Wigan have a problem over the 9 shirt as Leuluai is needed in the halves as they have no other cover.

Apart from the England U18 scrum half of 18 months ago and both England U16 half backs from last year.
Then of course there's Joe Mellor who ran Gaskell, Lomax and Wheeler ragged until his bad knee injury at the start of 2010. He's just scored tonight at Bradford in the U20 btw.

| I'd keep an eye on St.Helens lad Liam Carberry challenging McIlorum at Wigan in the long term. Outstanding prospect.

| Bloody daft claim. It seems that Pat Richards is now better than Frano Botica as well. Wane doesn't half mouth off. Mind you, he's not the brightest bulb in the lamp shop.

He certainly is, and a better prospect than Logan Tomkins IMO. But as you all know I like Mickey Mac.

to be fair richards is better, botica was of a time when Wigan could afford to keep a kicker in the side because the other 12 players were so good. Richards is one of the best wingers in the league without his kicking

I saw frano botica play when I was growing up and IMO pat Richards is twice the player frano botica was.

Pat Richards is a very good plus a decent kicker, better than Botica in playing ability. I would say that Frano was a fairly average RL player with an exceptionally good kicking ability. Kicking can and does win games and players will secure shirts on the basis of their value with the boot.

| Frano Botica was vastly underated as a player. I remember him making Anthony Sullivan look daft on more than one occasion. He wasn't as good as the fella they had on the other wing, but who was?
Any talk of him being a "Sean Day" type is complete nonsense.

spot on, another thing with Frano was that he was very versatile and could play full back, wing, stand off or scrum half would make a difference in any of those positions. He was more than just a good goal kicker.
