KC was picking Turner at 6 this year before fages and burns. In fact burns and fages was sat in the stand watching Turner play at 6.

KC has said that Wilkin is the one to lead us around the park and has good kicking game.

So I'm not buying the no halves.

The French had players missing so that's no excuse. They had a winger in the centre, they had fullback in the other centre and had a very young kid at 7.

Crazy thing is, two seasons ago we was super league champions. We shouldn't be talking about rebuilding as we should have built on that.

It should have give us the platform to build on but we put KC in the job, we got a awful backroom staff and then recruitment was awful.

KC two seasons has set us back years.

I will not watch the Saints again if Owens is in the 17.
I say Owens specifically because he is not super league standard, it is doubtful if he is championship standard but there are others in the back line who also should not be wearing the coveted Saints shirt. Swift, Owens, Dawson and McDonnell just don't make the grade and should be put out to the long grass. Wilkin, LMS, and Tasi should join them. Bring in two hard hitting props and a big second rower who can actually make a break and the pack is not too bad.

I really like LMS's enthusiasm, but it is just that and he lacks 'game' intelligence as he gives so many silly penalties away.

Roby is quality but not sure he's a natural leader either.

I don't think so, Owens is just awful and he seems to be selected no matter how bad apparently.....family reasons.

He and the average. ( but playing as well as he can) Dawson are the main reason for shipping points. Every team knows our biggest weakness is the left defence and obviously attacks on that side, knowing that if they don't drop the ball, they should be in for a try.

Overall though I expected this sort of score/result but was pleasantly pleased to see a much more expansive game from us until the match went away from us after about 50 mins. I liked SMD's contribution in attack.

I'd rather see us chancing it a bit like this than the one up and drop off. It certainly rattled the cats - for a while, until we lost our mojo once again.
With the Fages injury we are back to having no HB's. I wonder if Burns (I'm not a big fan) will be man of the match again for Leigh against Featherstone.

That whole business is apparently a fabrication.

Because he's only a kid, who's confidence is clearly shot to pieces and he knows the Saints fans are not fond of him. Having proper leaders on the pitch raises performance levels. In our most successful seasons we had several leaders and any kid coming into the team would have an arm round them and a few words of encouragement (or a rollicking). Who does that now in this team?? Who's the leader??? You can't tell me that it wouldn't make any difference.

I know by your posts that you have an issue with the size of the young lads but I don't think that's the issue.

It's late and I've had a drink so apologies for the sloppy post, but in all seriousness, this is a really young team and there's no real leaders!!! Leeds had leaders and lost them at the end of last season and look at the state of them now. It makes a huge difference.

I thought we played better this week.

But it does not mean we have stopped being average.
I recall many games where other average sides would come.to Saints put in an effort. Then eventually get blown away in the final 30.

I think the players are trying but when the quality teams step it up a gear we have no higher gear to go to.

Agreed we are an average side this year, we all know changes need to be made but there's not much we can do at this time of the season.
As long as the lads that are playing give 100% that's all we can ask
The forwards did ok last night Catalan are a big side, we got into them in the tackle .
In the first half we made a few chances but the backs couldn't finish them.

We've blooded some new young forwards this year, we've got a dozen games left so it maybe time to try a few youngsters in the backs. We tried one lad up at the Magic weekend, he made a couple of mistakes but he'll only learn from playing.

If Fages and Walsh are going to be out for a while I'd rather see a youngster tried at half-back than persist with Turner & Wilkinson.
