Obviously the first half a dozen games were a run in the park. Everything was going in Saints favour and KC was riding the wave.

A horrendous injury list (again) and three defeats on the bounce sees our coaching team with a bit of work to do.

It's amazing how quickly we can go from looking unbeatable to getting turned over at home by arguably one of the most underachieving teams in the comp.

I'm sure KC, Longy and Jamal can turn it around but they do have their work cut out. It's the first real challenge of their coaching tenure and it will be interesting to see what response we get from the players next week.

we need a halfback out there badly. We can only score if we are 1m off the line. Nobody to create anything or anyone who can make something of nothing.

Felt sorry for young Bailey today. Hull picked him out in the first half and looked like his confidence went.

A lot of the things that are going wrong are out of their hands though. You can't really legislate for having so many players missing at once.

That team was good enough to beat a out of form poor hull side. Hull had players missing also.

Westerman, pryce, minnichelo and pae really did at job on us today.

We can,t really do a lot to improve the situation, its noted that our last 3 games we have produced a poor kicking game so this needs to be addressed first.
Lance was not so good today on the creativity front which means Roby had to come with something, but generally I thought Hull got there tails up when we struggled to get enough position after each set.

Hopefully our cavalary will arrive sooner that later with Walsh, Burns, Wilkin and Percival. Luckily lots of teams dropped points today and it looks as though Warrington are in freefall.

That's all we can hope for. We need them back ASAP now. It's a worry that we could pick up more injuries with the luck we having.

Hope it doesn't affect him in the long term as it's clear he's rated highly by KC.

Me too, it got to the point where he was just letting the ball bounce as he'd lost confidence.

It happened with that Murphy lad at Wigan didn't it against Leeds a few seasons back in the play offs. Don't think he's been played since then.

Regarding Bailey I thought a few senior players were as much to blame. Makinson in the first and quite a few other players in the second incident.

I personally wouldnt have started with him on the wing. Soon as I got txt the team I knew hed be put under pressure.

We've lost all our brains. Lomax, Wilkin, burns, Walsh even wellens could have created something today.

Percival would have offered some strike.

We never really stretched Wigan or hull defensively. Just need a brain on the pitch to manage the team better.

Longy could have stood at 7 and just directed and kicked.

At half time we mentioned the same thing, the other option was to swop Roby and Lance around.
Hopefully Walshy is available from next week onwards, he won,t be match fit so maybe a bench position if we carry on struggling.

There was a couple of tests for Keiron today which I think he failed on.

First of all we should not have ran with Turner and Lance in the halves, its obvious that combination doesn't work. If it meant bringing Hewitt in then so be it, we needed someone to direct play.

The second was starting Bailey on the wing. I felt so sorry for the kid. I hate the trend of giving players debuts on the wing, it's a specialised position and should be treated as such. Making your debut is hard enough as it is without being thrown into an unfamiliar position. If you're gonna play him, put him at Full Back with Tommy back where he should be, on the wing.

The third was going for the two 10 minutes from the end. In a 10 minute scramble for points, a team with halves always has the advantage, the writing was on the wall from that point forward.

I agree with the first two points made above but I thought the decision to go for two was the correct call in the situation.

There was plenty of time left and we got back in field position but an error led to them regaining possession and going through a massive hole in the line.

If we kept our composure there was at least the chance of a drop goal. But we knocked on.

In some circumstances I agree it would be correct, I don't think yesterday was one of them. We had made so many dumb errors throughout the game, we had nobody I would put my money on kicking a drop goal and we had struggled to break them down.

With regards to the hole, that was coming all game. Tommy's organisation of the defensive line was awful, all game players were looking back for which way to peel and it some cases he had his back turned to the line. He also sent 5 defenders to the blind side, marking only 3 men, for the play that Hull exposed our edges to score their first try. If he is to play Full Back long term he has an awful lot to learn.

We definitely missed wellens again. I agree about the organisation. I don't think FB is his best position anyway.

In regards to the DG Hohaia put one over against Leeds away once upon a time!

That's true, I had forgot about that admittedly!

It doesn't look like Hewitt is going to get a chance for some reason. Saints were missing 5 players who can all play in the halves...and they still wouldn't pick him. Brown didn't fancy him and neither does Cunningham. I don't know anything about him, but i imagine it's one of two things...the lads talented but is deemed to not be mentally (attitude?) up to it...or he's not got the required skill set, and therefore it doesn't matter what his attitude is like.

My point is, he's not getting picked for a reason so we're probably best just trying to make the best of what we have left.

What I do know is that once we've got a few lads back, we're going to be very difficult to beat.

To be fair to KC on the halves front you've got a lot of injuries in that position and if you went with Turner & Hohaia for the Wigan game then youve pretty much got to go same again for the 2nd game as Id be very suprised if Saints (same as other teams) got in any match training in between the 2 games, it'll have all been rehab work.

So introducing a new halfback partnership for the 2nd game would be virtually impossible.

I don't think Hewitt will be here much longer. His agent putting his name out there and Hes not happy which I totally understand.

The min I read the txt with the team, I knew Bailey was in for a rough time. It invited pressure on us on kicks.

I personally would have put flash second row and jones centre with Dawson on the wing. All first team players and in a game we needed the two points.

We couldn't understand once he was picked that he was shifted from his familiar full back position to one on the wing, big error on KC's part, you can do it with a centre to wing, Bailey looked very isolated and undecisive.

Makinson at full back struggled as well with the infamilarity of Ashworth and Baily in the backs, it just shows how the experience of Wellens can organise a back line.

KC hasn,t got many options to work on though, hopefully the return of Walsh, Wilkin and Percival will change all that. I see the media has jumped onto KC's comments, the fans need to give KC a bit of slack under the present circumstances, its his rookie year as head coach and mistakes will be made along the way.

As I understand it, Bailey hadn't trained with the first team prior to the game.
