| I hope we are in with a shout.
He would be a good replacement for Walsh for 2015 or 2016 (depending on what rumour you believe). He has a good kicking game, including goal kicking, creates lots of tries and knows how to beat a man.
Koukash has tweeted that Sneyd wants to leave but doesn't want to sign for Cas.
Surely we are in the running?!

Send me jordan turner and lms in return? Can't imagine koukash is interested in a fee!

| If Saints have any ambition to win trophys again Sneyd should be bid for
Put him with Walsh next season and our attack improves 10 fold?
Put Lance to hooker to cover for Robes
Then we need a Centre and 2 props?

| So who would we be competing against?
Wigan have Smith and Green for this season backed up by Powell, Williams and Hampshire. So probably not.
Huddersfield have a fairly settled set up with Brough, Robinson and Wood.
They still don't strike me as a particulary attractive club to sign for.
Warrington, although chopping and changing have Ratchford and Myler, backed up by Bridge.
Leeds may be the real threat, Sinfield and McGuire are getting old and many seem unconvinced by Sutcliffe's long term half back potential.
Widnes are allegedly letting Mellor leave as they have craven and Gilmore coming through.
Hull FC aren't afraid of paying a transfer fee and always seem to need a halfback.
So Saints, Leeds or Hull FC for me.

I agree. I actually think that, if we're not going to trust Charnock, we should try and pick up Snyed AND Mellor.
Someone's always injured (for instance Snyed has played #1 and could cover for Lomax currently) and when Walsh leaves we'll have two mature(ish) halves to take over.

Going off koukash's twitter rant last night, it was the insinuation he would be released from his contract no questions asked. I'm sure even koukash realises having a player who doesn't want to be there is no good, it's just what he can get for him in return.
I genuinely don't believe koukash will take a fee, so it's player swap all the way. I know they were looking at anthony walker earlier in the season when Harris first came in (I assume they worked together for Wales) so that could be the first advantage we have..l

Would rather limit the player options but give them 2... I can imagine a senior player (turner, lms, Mose) and a fringe (clough, walker, hand, Forster) would be seen as a good deal by all

Walker or Mose fine. If you'd release Greenwood, Thompson or Richards what have you been watching the last 18 months?

| Our biggest competition if we did go for Sneyd would be Cas, saying that, if you believe the rumours of all the top players leaving the tigers at the end of the season, I doubt he would want to be left in a squad who won't be able to compete as well as they have this year. Every indication is that Walsh will be gone at year end, if we aren't in for him, it would once again be a very strange recruitment decision.

Cas fans have done a great job ensuring he won't be allowed to remain at cas...

| Stand Off is a priority position for us. I didn't realise how many assists Sneyd had for Cas, he's clearly fit into that structure well so maybe he is worth taking a gamble on afterall. It would also allow Lance to cover the hooking role and not burn out Roby.
We need to improve the forwards aswell though, that's the biggest area of improvement. If we brought in a work horse prop to replace Laffranchi and a good back rower to replace Manu (along with Vea who looks to be Sia's replacement) I'd be fairly content.
We need to look for quality rather than quantity - Wheeler, Gardner, Clough, Laffranchi, Flanagan, Sia and Manu could all leave at the end of the year and apart from Sia none really offer us consistency. Manu shows flashes of quality and Laffranchi is fairly solid but the others are bit part players that can be replaced by some of the younger lads who have come in and played well.
If you release those players at the end of the year and bring in a prop (Ashton Simms has been mentioned), a back rower like Danny Kirmond who is consistent every week, Sneyd and a good Centre all of a sudden the shape of the side looks better:
Lomax, Makinson, Centre, Percival / Jones, Swift, Sneyd, Walsh, Amor, Roby, Walmsley, Kirmond, Vea, Wilkin.
Subs: Hohaia, Masoe / LMS, New prop, Greenwood.
Then you'd have players like Richards, LMS, Turner, Masoe, Savelio, Greenwood, Thompson, Wellens, Beaumont all in reserve to give compeititon.
Most of all, I think we require a new coach. Someone who can coach a more committed & structure defence. That's the area we really struggle because under Brown we have been massively inconsistent and instead of him dropping the underperforming players he's stuck with them and it's led to more inconsistent performances.

And who do you suggest Brown brings in for these under performers given our injury situation ?
Biggest culprits have to be LMS and Turner , but with our numbers so low ,there's very few other options. Only one I can see is Savelio for LMS but if rumours are true about his appearances being limited because of cap room then Browns hands are tied.

Using what you say, would you be happy with:
Lomax
Makinson Percival Jones Swift
Sneyd Walsh
Amor Roby Walmsley
Kirmond Vea
Wilkin
Hohaia Greenwood Thompson Masoe
Richards Beaumont LMS Savelio
Charnock Wellens Dawson Hewitt
As the basis of our 25 man squad next year? That would be Turner, Laffranchi, Soliola, Manu, Flanaghan, Clough, Gardner and Wheeler out, Sneyd, Vea and Kirmond in (and I would hazard plenty of room to bring in some more kids from the academy and or the likes of London), so I'd suggest that that's more than feasible cap wise.
I do think brown is capable as a coach, but I'd like us to spend more on the team as a whole around him. I feel we have all our budget tied up in the figurehead, who suffers due to not having the support he needs...

Lomax
Makinson Percival Jones Swift
Sneyd Walsh
Amor Roby Walmsley
Vea Greenwood
Thompson
Hohaia Masoe Huby Savelio
I'd also invest in an experienced Head Conditioner, a sports scientist, a highly qualified doctor and physios and a nutritionist.

I'd add a sports psychologist to the list of off field acquisitions
Huby is probably a no go, lots of teams bidding, and seems Huddersfield have won out... Limited choices elsewhere (which is why we were looking at a few younger props earlier in the season) or the kids we got...

Yeah completely agree.
As for Huby, I personally think he's worth a bidding war and with the money going out at the end of the year I'd suggest we have the clout to be heavily involved. I'll be disappointed if we miss out on him because I've rated him highly for a few years.
Looking at the Super League OOC, for props, I'd be looking at: (This is off zerotackle so may be inaccurate)
Craig Huby
Ben Flower
Lopini Paea
Nick Scruton
NRL OOC for props:
Bryce Gibbs
Ashton Sims
Siosaia Vave

If he has, it's escaped my attention, I can't find anything on it - but lots of players enjoy French culture and it's rare to get a player if Catalans want to keep them.
Flower is definitely not ooc (they are worse than us when it comes to some renewals!)

| If we were in for him, which we're probably not, would the Doctor do business with McManus? Well documented they don't get on. McManus has made it a priority not to do business with Wigan over the last few years, resulting in the Higham fiasco....could the Doctor do something similar?
