It'll be interesting to see where Royce plays him, especially as he goes out of his way in that interview to stress that he's happy to play anywhere. If Meli's injury keeps him out then I suspect he'll go straight into the centre position, with Kyle keeping the full back spot. Whatever happens, I'd be inclined to keep Gaskell at stand off for the rest of the season, as he's our only player with a genuine kicking game.

Pryce's kicking game is better than people give him credit for, and Gaskell's is not as fabulous as people give him credit for.

I'm pretty sure they'll avoid giving him kicking duties for a month or so, you would think?

I think Gaskell is much more precise with the boot than Leon, who has always struck me as a bit of a hoof-and-hoper.

Pryce doesn't have long to get up to speed with Lomax - he should be in at 6 from the get-go.

No offence to Gaskell, but Pryce is a good 5 classes above Lee and we need him blended into the halves come the business end.

I think we need to watch how we handle pryce's comeback as we can't afford to lose him again.

I'd out leon on the bench as our outside bench spot. Id ease him in the best I could as Leon might be the player to change our season around.

I agree, although he only lasted three minutes last time so if he makes it to halftime this time then there is a chance his bits are going to stay in place. Mind you, he had to get through his conditioning test first before even being allowed on the pitch and we don't yet know whether that's been successful.

But if he is playing - and I really hope he is - I would guess he will cover Meli's centre spot. He should be able to keep Foster in line. Foster has been very good this season but over the last two matches his concentration hasn't been the best. He needs a boot up the backside, and I suspect Leon would give him that!

Somehow, though, especially after Clough only lasting half an hour at best, I just can't imagine us actually getting one of our long termers back again!

I agree what you say about jamie. I've noticed for a while he's losing concentration during games. I think he needs bringing down a peg or two

He isn't the only one by a long way but it's disappointing seeing him do it. I rather think his mind is too often elsewhere at present, not least with the girls. If I was Simmons I'd drop him for a game or two if he doesn't improve his attitude. Makinson, Eastmond and Lomax can all kick goals and I'm sure we can find a replacement winger from somewhere. We've been slotting kids in all season.

I'm with Dux, Leon will come up with some gooduns (he kicked a couple of nice 40/20s last year) but a lot more of his will be going straight down the fullback's throat. Gaskell has a good long boot and even when he doesn't find the ground, the winger will tend to take it going backwards.

Having Pryce on the side may, however, mean we're moving forward better and whoever is kicking will be doing so from better positions.

If possible I'd like to use him off the bench at first. I think he could give some real impact.
Strap Meli up and get him playing - he's tough enough.

Your problem is your biggest remaining fixtures is this Friday, lose that and you are 5th. Win it and 4th is clearly on and within your grasp, particularly given your better points difference than the Catalans which is worth a point by itself.

Looking at your fixtures you have some pretty difficult games there. With only your last two games being easier.

Saints should be targeting a 100% record through the rest of the reguar season. It will not be easy by any stretch - Cas and HKR away will be tricky fixtures, but I've got a sneaky feeling that the home fixtures against Catalans and Hudds will be where the team go out and make the point that they aren't as far adrift as people are suggesting.

We are not as far behind as some Saddeneds would have us think and we will win all our remaining fixtures.

I reckon Gaskell will start as he was Royce's choice at the start of the year, not Lomax for the ver reason that he has a kicking game. If meli is out, and Eastmond had as good a game as everyone says at FB, Lomax may revert to his pre-season position of centre.

But reckon Pryce will actually be our bench back for this game.
