Think it was Anderson who made that complaint, not Potter. Seem to recall Ian Smith being the ref a few times last season.

No you are right, Potter complained about him after the HKR game.

I can see Potter using Maurie and Leon's DVD making software and pwning Smith after our defeat to Salford.

Smith for whatever reason seems to cain us whenever we have the misfortune to have him

they dropped him to the national leagues for two games after the disgrace of HKR, I hope he remembers that on Friday and bucks his ideas up

So they should have too, i was at Hull KR that afternoon, and he was sh*t.

plus he was the ref when newton was going round putting our players out eg, longy, gilmour and smith did f all. he got demoted then.

He seems to not mind taking the punishment of a temporary demotion as long as he ruins things for us

Well he's living up to expectations so far, salfords second try came from a back to one decision that was simply awful and the 3rd try was so far forward it was impossible to miss ..

I reckon 3 of Salfords try's came from Smiths mis intepretation of the game. We always get an iffy game with him.

I'm now pretty certain he has a dislike of Saints just as the Connolly's used too. Cheat is a strong word but the fella gives everything he possibly can against us , I wonder if he was mentally scared as a child watching Oldham get mauled by Saints or something??

No referee 'dislikes' a team and specifically makes poor decisions to spite a team. Smith may not be the best referee, but to say he dislikes us and intentionally penalises us and so on is just ridiculous.

you see thats simply not true. I know for a fact that good old Bob Connolly made no secret of the fact that if there was a 50/50 in a Saints match he would always go with the opposition, being a pie eater it's understandable.

Anderson complained about Smith and with good reason he is shoocking everytime he refs us so it's either a horrible coincidence or he has it in for us.

Smith is shocking no matter who he refs. That's a given.

I,ve seen enough of Ian Smith over the years to know that that he referees us to negate our style of play. We,ve had 3 experienced (Millward, Anderson, Potter) coaches who have took the issues to the RFL, the guy is anti rugby and makes things up as he goes along.
Perhaps sub consciously he dislikes the team and as a result referees the game in a manner that is just not good enough for professional rugby league.

He is just an absolutely shocking ref. Tonight had several ridiculous moments of misinterpretation that bordered on the ridiculous. Why, for example, was he constantly giving knock ons in situations where players dropped or knocked the ball onto on of their own players? Surely it's a penalty instead? Forward passes, high shots, he missed them all yet must have pulled 20 other penalties out of nowhere.

Surely it would be accidental off-side and a scrum?

If it was any other ref I'd agree. But not him. He really does seem to dislike us and it's no coincidence that the closer games that he refs for us go the other way and seem to do on the back of the opposing team being moved up the field by mind boggling penalties.

Whichever I'm no ref, but it's not a knock on either way.

But as thet both end up in a scrum with the same feed does it really matter. Certainly isn't a penalty like you thought, no wonder you moan about the ref.

I pays my money, I can shout at who I like.
