I agree with that. Wello was very good at beating the 1st man but that's gone from his game.

He still good player and he loves the club but I think if lomax is as good as people say then wello will be lucky to stay in 1st team next year.

But pace isn,t everything, its about reading the game, timing the runs etc.

I'm not bagging wello, I like him a lot and is still good player but I think he's in decline now and he's got lomax waiting in the wings.

No, not clean breaks, but his offload stats are massive compared to any other full back. So it seems it suggest he compensates from the lack of clean break by doing offloads instead of being tackled.
I agree Lomax is waiting in the wings is faster and could make clean breaks, but would he have the prescence of mind to be in the right position, see the right plays etc.
I think we entering the transition next season of when Lomax takes over and perhaps Wello goes into the pack or retires end of 2010.

It was a superb tackle, one of the highlights of the game for me. I couldn't believe it when I realised it was Wellens.

I loved the way he shut silly gob Stevo up as a result, especially since Stevo was Wello's biggest critic in the England fiasco last year. It was just beautiful all round!

Last night was a good game for wello, he's not a spring chicken anymore, but still has at the very least 1 season as a top fullback.
