IMO he'll be awesome for us

He will be assitant along with Lolesi.

I hope if it's true he's in the right place in his own head to take this on.

I,ve been waiting quite a long time for this to happen, Long will be brilliant for both parties. He,s back home where he belongs, he,s got a great back line to work with, its the challenge that will get rid of any of his remaining demons.

Rock and roll returns to Saints

This is brilliant IMO. If he can pick up his career the way it was going when he was attack coach at Salford, we could be in for some very exciting rugby next year.

Long overdue (excuse the pun)

This will either be boom or bust!

I can't see Saints tolerating his behaviour in the same way we did when he was a player, so hopefully he has grown up a bit.

Do people think all this has been in the pipeline for a while? Has brown been used to fill a gap until KC\Longy ready? Seems strange how Brown has left without a job and it's known he's applied for some in Aus. It all seems to have fitted into place quite nicely.

KC was being lined up to replace Brown at the end of next year. That was always the plan. Browns in laws have health issues and that's the reason he's gone early.

Don,t think so, Browny's job was to re build the team and stay competitive for silverware, KC as Pete says was still learning his apprenticeship. Daniel Anderson told McManus that Longy would make a great coach one day.
I think its just been accelerated 1 season, to be honest I thought it could have been the other way around Longy ending up as coach with KC as asssistant.
We don,t really know how its going to work out, will it be "2 heads better than one" or "Too Many Cooks"

Bit of both I think. I seem to recall getting the impression they were "professionally incompatible".

Longy won't coach "Thugby".

It must have been hard for Wane to accept that Long knew far more about the game than he.

Our Coach has made a comment in the St Helens Star:

“Me and Longy are good mates and always will be, but I don’t know the dynamics of where he is at with Salford.

“I have probably had a million messages off Longy but I know he is in Australia at the minute coaching with Samoa in the Four Nations,”

So it looks like Longy has been asking is there a job going?????

I'm not convinced on Long. If he proves himself at Salford then look at him but they haven't exactly set the league on fire. If anything they've gone backwards since Noble left.

Nothing to do with 70% new playing staff,a new coach, plus Hock's distruption and the Owner coming out with all sorts in the media upsetting the camp?

Or Long could be a rubbish coach.

If you remember the Smith - Holdsworth - Patten attacking triangle they had, it was extremely effective. Phil Vievers gave all the credit for the attacking work to Long. It was a belting set up given Salford's other deficiencies at the time. It also re-launched Matty Smith's career.

That sort of thing is exactly what we need and given the step up in quality from Smith-Holdsworth-Patten to Walsh-Burns-Lomax, together with a better team around them, we could be looking at something very exciting.

Salford today is a bloody minefield. I don't think you can judge any individual on what's going on there, with all the disruption.
