| Very strange. Percival's deal is one of those horrible ones. If he turns out to be the star he looks like he could be, it'll be too short and like Eastmond he'll be talking about walking this time next year. But good to see him signed up.
Can someone explain Turner's new deal for me? He's already got another year after this one and hasn't played well enough to make securing him for longer a priority. Why not just wait to see how he performs to the end of the season and look at it then?

| Good news on both counts well done Saints. young players signed up is what we need. Please lets hope we think about not rushing to extend the deals of certain forwards

| I agree, good news on both counts. I'm pleased these two have signed up for longer. I've been impressed with both of them, particularly given the continued upheaval caused (lately) by Brown's continued messing about with the line up of the team.

| Some good news at last, would have liked Percivals deal to go to 2016. OK with Turner has done reasonably well considering he,s had to operate with an unsettled side and poor quality service from our acting halves.

Except for last week when he was an half.........
Perhaps Brown is giving all the squad a go at it.

Should be interesting when we get to Perry and TP. I wonder which one he'll play at 7?

I think with Percival we can reassess in 12 - 18 months. Ste Tyrer looked a talent at 1st but his career nose dived. Percival looks more talented to me but he's still developing so lets see where he is in 12 months or so and then we can offer him a new deal well before he's OOC. Good to get him signed up.
The Turner one surprises me too. Unless he was being courted after by other clubs I'm not sure why we've offered him a deal. Maybe Saints and Brown see more long term potential than we do on the face of it?

| With the Percival one lets not be too worried. Turner has only done 6 months and got an extention.
With Percival it maybe that Saints could have offered 3 years, but that would have kept his wages down. With 2 years if his form continues, he can renegotiate next year for a 3 year one to take him to 2017 at a better rate than his current price.

| I'm over the moon we tied Percival down on longer deal. Its not often I "big up" young lads but this lad has got pure talent. He's a real centre, the old style that's now gone out of fashion for a mobile backrow being thrown there.
I'm not so sure if have give Turner a new deal YET. He's not really impressed me that much. He's seems to lack effort and just goes thru the motions. I think he could be a good player but he's got to try harder. At the moment he's just a show pony.

| Good for both of them.
Turner isnt a world beater but is a good solid centre, he is about as good as there is out there that is available or likely to be available in the near future.
Pervcival represents an exciting young talent. He has a lot to learn so a two year extension to his 21st birthday should give a better indication of were he will end up at quality wise. All the signs are that he will be very good.
I think Saints are signalling that they see Turner and Percival as the clubs two centres going forward.
We just need to get the wings sorted out. I guess Makinson will fill one position, though i dont see him as a genuine top drawer winger, just fairly solid pro with a bit of pace.
We therefore just need to sign one other winger, preferably a proper Saints winger to excite the crowd and give us full length trys to savour. I dont want us to sign a big solid lump who can make hard yards but who offers no excitement and flair.

| Given we need to rebuild our front row and half back it is good that we will have a stable backline for the next few years.Percy is a no brainer and Turner has done quite a bit with limited ball.

I think Wheeler will be first choice standoff next year, if fit.
Evidence this year suggests that Brown prefers lance at hooker than in the halves.

I don't think Brown rates Hohaia at all. He's reluctant to start him anywhere, even when we're down to fielding teenage fullbacks at hooker or geriatrics in the halves.

Pretty much agree with you.
There have been various comments and sometimes omissions from Brown surrounding Lance, that tend to make one think that he isnt seen as a half in any shape or form.
I think Brown respects him as a player, but just doesnt know were to fit him in, i think he said as much last year.
I also think its interesting that he hasnt bothered playing him at fullback either, which is the position he played at regularly in the NRL, preferring young Makinson. Suspect this is more about trying to develop Tommys all round game, rather than a slight on Hohoia as such.

I agree about Turner. I always feel like he could break tackles and be a handfull close to the line if he put more effort in.

If wheeler stays on, its got to be some sort of rolling contract or a no play-no pay.

Wheeler will never go for a pay as you play. He would get a deal at 50% of the super league clubs.

| Wheelers an enigma, wrapped in a paradox. All the talent, but horrible, horrible luck with injuries.
I really fear we let him go and he spends a decade punishing us at another club.

| The way it is going Percy will have played more game time in his first season than Gazza has played in five. I don't know the answer with Wheeler perhaps he does not have the desire for the game that coupled with awful luck is not a good combination. However many players play with injuries of some degree it is how quickly they want to get back. He knows the standard is so poor someone will always take a punt on an ex Saints player. Turner is as good as anything we could sign in the English Comp
