| A post on Redvee claiming that Nosey Parker (OK...) has printed that we are in line to sign this SH from Penrith.

| First choice for the Panthers (who I understand aren't that good) for the past 4 years. That probably means he's got all the skills needed to do our job and will realistically be as good as Dobson.
Even if we get him,I'd like us to still go in for Hanbury, who can play both 6 & 7 equally well - if we can juggle our quota and still load a couple of new props.

| I have been saying his name for a few week now. He is solid and very Dobson-esk but NRL clubs are always looking out for the next Thuston or Cronk so they will no persist with a solid ball player forever. Which is why Dobson has failed in the NRL twice.
He would be a great signing and just what we need. Other players of interest should be Jeff Robson at Cronulla or Jacob Miller at Wests

Hull FC want Miller don't they? He followed the club and the HDM journalist on twitter which added to the speculation.
We just need a solid ball player for #7. Nothing flash, just someone who will take us around the field and kick well. Lomax will be the dangerous runner.
I was set on the idea of us signing Dobson, I'm sure there are cheaper options floating around somewhere though. It is just finding them.

| Walsh got Penrith player of the year in 2011, but has recently been dropped from the first team line up.
The Panthers currently sit 11th out of 16 in the table.

Just googled Walsh. He's been dropped due to poor form. Doesn't sound great!

Excellent kicking game, but not a lot of pace. Reminds me a bit of Tim Smith.
I think Penrith have signed Jamie Soward for next season.

Given the apparent difference between salaries here and in the NRL, are we going to have to crucify ourselves to get him, or will the apparently astronomical wage taken by Josh Perry be enough to cover it.

| No surprises that we are looking at the NRL. That's all we ever seem to do, in spite of the poor showing of our present former NRL players.

We got Soliola from the NRL, who's our best player this year.
Perry's been a real dissapointment, but Boof and Hohaia were poor moves by the club, rather than a refelection on NRL imports in general IMO.
If we're signing a half to play half back, we should be in good stead, although the spectre of Brett Seymour to Hull will make me worry until I see any signing actually play.

| We would need to pay a transfer fee for Walsh. From reading the Australian press he only signed a contract extension last year.

Reckon he may try to negotiate a release? If he's on decent money, and won't be first choice, his club may accept that?
I have no idea how it works, but I'm sure players have got releases in the past.

| He maybe slow, but is he Wilkin/Wellens slow, or Smith slow???
In the end for Saints his pace is irrelevant. It's a brain we need, with a splash of leadership.

| Just watched highlights of the game he played before on youtube (search: 'NRL 2013 Round 7 Highlights: Panthers V Eels' if you're interested)
Kicking looked very good, both long and short: he kicked a 40/20 and set up a try with a short kick.
Passing looked good and put a couple of tries on a plate for his team.
If he is consistent in this (which I do not think he is given some of the comments) then I'd be chuffed for us to get him!

| From what I've seen he's a good goal kicker and has a good in-play kicking game, which is exactly what we need. I'll believe it when I see it though if Nosey Parker's said it!

There are no OOC scrum halves in Super League worth looking at in my opinion. We might have had some flops from the NRL, but we've also had Lyon, Hooper, Soliola, Albert, Puletua, Fairleigh, Talau, Iro, Hoppe...

Walsh looks ok from that youtube link , seem to be the general we need in the middle - what we really need to do though is not just go and buy one but start looking for the one after and do some succession planning or he'll come over do great then clear off back to the NRL on a fat contract then leave us buggered again.
As for Seymour , he has the talent but his off field issues have just been too much.

The NRL is the premier competition in the world. We've just picked a few bad ones recently but we've picked plenty of brilliant ones down the years.
