As I have said time and time again Sinfield is not the man who can break down Aussie and Kiwi's defences. We have better Stand Offs in England. Gareth Widdop, Sam Tomkins (Zak Hardaker at Full Back), Leon Pryce, Danny McGuire and even our own Jonny Lomax (Who I know plays SH but I think he could be a great running Stand Off taking the organisation role away from him) He wont get a game at Hooker as James Roby is a 80 minute player, Sean O'Loughlin is a shoe in at Loose Forward if he stays fit. So in my book the bench would be the only option for Sinfield as he could cover 6,7,9,11,12,13 if anyone got injured from the walk on 13. This is a joke decision in my book. Granted he is the best Super League Captain in history but I personally would have had Sean O'Loughlin as the England Captain.

He is a 6/7 and pretty much always has been regardless of what shirt number he wears. Personally I like Sinfield and think he is top Superleague player, a great organiser and a real leader. Like him or not if he's in the team he should be captain, his record speaks for it's self. Personally I'd love him at Saints, he has pretty much everything we lack.
Sinfield and Widdop at 6 & 7 maybe ??

No I can't but is that because we've used him wrongly? the rest of the team have been poor? I'm not sure tbh. If we let him have the same role he has at leeds with good runners around him it may work . Essentially he plays the number 7 Role for Leeds.

| Widdop had shoulder surgery after the NRL grand final so he wont be playing. Trouble is, Sinfield will look like a magician at 6 against the other home nations and the media wil be raving, so he will then probably get the gig in the 2013 world cup.
Thats the trouble with international RL in this country, can you imagine Oz or NZ playing a 13 at 6 in an international game??

I think thats were your letting the crappy squad number system get in the way Chief. He is not a loose forward and hasn't been playing there for years. I think McDermott has him down as a 7.

| Regardless of the number on his back and his positioning on a field for Leeds, he is not an international standard 6 in the memory of man.
Dont get me wrong, hes an absolute talisman for Leeds and a consumate professional, but as an international stand off capable of matching the likes of Jonathan Thurston, Benji Marshall, sorry, hes not the right player for that position. For me, it would be a fully fit Widdop every day regardless of where Sinfield plays for his club.
GB & England for some reason have a tradition of playing natural loose forwards at 6 in the international stage, Andy Farrell, Paul Sculthorpe and now Kevin Sinfield. All class players but surely playing them in their best position at the highest level of competition should be the ultimate aim?

| Going against the grain here a bit but I think its a logical choice - he is the form of his life.
Having said that I vaguely remember a game against Aus in Aus when noble put him at 13 and he was wiped off the pitch by the opposition.

The last time I can remember anyone doing that was Sean Long in Sydney, and that was a one off.
Sinfield has actually played better than most in an England shirt getting MOM on a few occasions aswell.
You will se a different player now he has been given the skippers role, its the role where he excels.

Sinfield hasn't played 13 for a few years now, he is a stand off whether you like it or not.

He'd walk into any team in the country now, but are you [iseriously[/i suggesting he'd have started ahead of Long, Sculthorpe and Martyn/Pryce back in the day? Don't talk wet...

Nobody seems to be bitter about Sinfield being selected as England captain and the debate we are having are whether he should be selected at 6 for his country. Nothing to do with how good he is or how he performs at club level. Incidentally I would prefer him at 6 at saints rather than Hohaia, but not over Martyn or Pryce.

Hohaia is stealing a living at Saints masquerading as a stand off while Sinfield has just won yet another SL winners ring after some top top performances and outstanding leadership. I'd go as far as saying if he was in the Redvee this season we may have finished up champions.

Paul Sculthorpe played at 6 and had a World Class game against Australia back in 2001.
Sean Long played Scrum Half and had as good a game against Australia in Australia in 2006.
Also Andy Farrell played 6 against Australia and was exceptional in 1994??? At Old Trafford
