| Another pretty poor shudds performance , out of the cup and in free fall in the league will be get the boot?? If he does he could spend the rest of the season working on recruitment and planning for us next year , anyone think he could take up a more official capacity at the club this year ?

| I really don't see why not. Huddersfield are in free fall now and out of the Challenge Cup. It's highly likely that their poor form is due largely to Brown's departure and the lack of cohesion at the club. In the situation they are in, once it's announced Anderson is taking over and Brown signs for Saints, they should have parted ways there and then. It's such an awkward position as it undermines Brown's authority.
This season is a complete write off for us. We've persisted with Wellens at fullback and brought in Hohaia to play in the halves. It was only ever going to end one way for us after making those decisions. Us knowing we were losing Royce early on also meant we lacked direction and leadership. KC and Rush taking over hasn't changed anything really, they are just trying to get the most out of what we have rather than worrying too much about establishing game plans, defensive patterns and attacking moves. Hence the reason we're doing better against most sides, as we're just playing on instinct, and why we're so far behind Wigan as we're not prepared properly.
This season is going to end with us losing in the playoffs to Wigan most probably. I really can't see any reason why Brown couldn't come in now. Why not get the bad period of results when he changes the systems on the field and the lineup now rather than at the start of next season? Us taking on Brown is a risk and he is a coach that will disassemble the existing systems to build his own, which will mean we're in for a horrendous few months. I just think getting that out of the way now, during this awful, pointless season then starting next season firing, is better than us being mid table come this time next season and having a poor start to another season.

| According to Andy Wilson on Twitter, Nathan Brown has claimed that he was forced to abandon his attack plan due to player power.

| Huddersfield are going down the pan, I think they'll fall off the radar next year and the fact Brown and a few others have said they're leaving has just left them without any cohesion and and unity. The quotes from his post presser are staggering and I can't see how he'll be at Huddersfield for much longer. Wouldn't surprise me if he left tomorrow.

Sounds like he's looking to be sacked with them comments. He'd be mad to quit as he will want paying out.
It's all gone wrong at hudds but I'm still very happy to have him as our coach next year, nothing has changed from my point of view, he's still a top super league coach.

| I've only been an active fan of the sport since 2007 as I've said on here before (watched it loads on the TV since being a nipper thanks to family who have been avid Saints supporters for donkeys years). I'm wondering, has rugby league always been this melodramatic?

He's a very good coach and plays exciting rugby so I think he'll initially do really well at Saints but he's a bit of a loose cannon with some of his comments. He doesn't pull any punches and has that 'Millward' streak in him. It'll certainly be entertaining with him in charge.

I enjoy listening to Brown talk, he knows his rugby and is very honest but doesn't hold anything back.

| If he's our coach for next season and we have the opportunity to bring him in early, I'm all for it. He wasn't my first choice but now he's accepted the job we might as well let him have a crack at it, should he be available. I understand the issue of stability but we've been here before and done well with it so I'm prepared to take that risk because that's how Saints roll.

| I'm c**pping myself TBH with comments like this being reported:
Quote "It certainly wasn't my idea to freshen things up," he told the post-match news conference. "Basically, the players weren't happy with how we were attacking. They were desperate to change.
"Last week we obviously had an issue with effort. There were some underlying issues and one was that the players didn't want to play our attacking structure any more.
"It was pointless going out and attacking like that because we would have got a poor effort again.
"So we had to try and change it within a week for a Challenge Cup semi-final, which was never going to be easy.
"It's not ideal for anyone but they were more keen to go back to a traditional seven-and-six style of football."'"
Are we going to be playing with one half back? What the hell is is he on (about)?
Player power?
I think he has lost the plot and hope he gets it back before he comes to us.

He is a well known tinkerer. The Hudds fans have been complaining about it for a couple of seasons.
I've been concerned about the Brown appointment ever since it was announced. I'm still concerned.

| Hope you get him early.
Two years ago I thought he was excellent - and moved us forward as a team. The last two years have been a mixture of tinkering , playing players out of position , and continual unrest behind the scenes.
You are welcome to him now , but think you are a better club than he is a coach to be honest.
Still he keeps being a fan interesting...
Enjoy.

I like saints. Great club. I wouldn't wish you harm but the sooner you take NB from us the better (for the giants)
NB is a terrific assistant coach. Get him out there for the crack with the lads and improving them technically. Great. But leading a team and winning the big games.....can't do it.

There've always been dramas but they are amplified tremendously by the media at the disposal of every fan these days - Twitter, Facebook, messageboards, comments on online newspapers - and rumours and conjecture spread infinitely more quickly than they did in, say, the '80s and '90s.

| Agree with many concerns about Nathan Brown, great assistant, little like Brian Mac at Leeds, but then he has some top players who can raise their game at times.

| Brown is a tinkerer at Huddersfield because he's got less quality options that we have. As long as he doesn't decide that Wilkin is our organiser I'll be okay.

| looks fairly clear to me what is going on. Brown and Paul Anderson will have different philosophies and outlooks on the game/tactics etc...the players will be more keen to impress Anderson than Brown - after all he is their coach next year. Therefore they all start to listen to Anderson and follow his advice, and ignoring Brown's coaching.
Will always be a recipe for disaster for the new coach to be in position as an assistant to an incumbent coach.

| Lest we forget. Hudds were top of Super League when Brown agreed to come to the Red Vee. It is since then that things have started to go wrong. Announcing he was leaving mid season was always going to cause problems, especially when everyone knew it was to another SL club. For example, it was different when DA left Saints as he was going elsewhere.
Its almost like him saying "I am going to Saints as they afford me better chances of success".
If he tinkers with the Saints lets hope it's at FB and one of the wings. The possibilities are endless: Meil to Prop? Roby to Scrum Half? Lance full time hooker? Lomax to 6?

But as the quality of the squad has been improved from 2009 he has tinkered more and more. He tinkered very little in 2009 (our best year under Brown) More quality players has meant more combinations and permutations to tinker with. And boy does he like to tinker.
Afer a loss to salford at magic weekend he moved full back to wing, wing to full back, second row to centre, centre to loose forward and right wing to left centre. Result...lose to Widnes.
Did getting the Saints job force him to do this? No. Its in his character.

| It will be interesting to see how we handle this. I just think we're not capable of winning SL this season so why not use the remaining games to work through the tactical changes he's going to make and hit next season running with a bit of optimism rather than limping out of the playoffs this year and starting next season slowly, which is what would happen if we delayed his arrival.
Rush also said he doesn't want to do the job any longer than is required, so it seems better for all parties to make the change now.

I want Brown coming in fresh fit our pre season and it will freshen the squad up, if he comes in now and we start losing games, it will be add a negative atmosphere leading in to 2013 season.
He should go home to OZ and have a rest while working on our squad for next year and get his perpetration sorted for how he wants us to play.
IMO its a blessing in disguise for us.
