With news this morning that Kyle is leaving for Bath who would you like to see as his replacement?
I heard Luke Gale mentioned on here the other day but with the money Kyle leaving gives us shouldn't we use it a bit more wisely?

If he's staying on until the end of the season, the club will be working on a big name for next.

I'm under the impression that Thurston, Prince and Cronk are head, shoulders, knees and even toes above the other 7s in the NRL, so I would hope it'd be one of them.

Given the impending TV-deal pay hike in Australia I'd say the chances of us landing one of their A-list star scrum halves is somewhere around nil.

Not to mention a lack of experienced 7's in the NRL at the moment hence a few clubs battling hard to secure a crocker Orford!

I'm not too up on the Saints reserves/U18's so some of you may disagree with me, but I feel that Eastmonds replacement will come from your own club, someone at Saints now obviously knows he's leaving and is thinking to himself "I'm ready to make his shirt mine." and he may explode on to the scene this season.

Eastmond isn't IMO such a big blow as everyone thinks for the above reason, there's always someone equally as talented and potentially better than him at the club already. Trouble is putting the faith in the lad to do it.

As long as it isn't Todd Carney (who i know is a 5/8 but we all know how these players chop and change)

It's very likely to be the next NRL halfback who disgraces himself or falls out of favour.

So we should miss out on Carney then as he was the last

I think we need a robotic type at 7. We've Pryce for the wow factor, its the organisation, distribution and thinking we struggle on.

Remember, the ozzie press keep calling us "cashed up super club st.helens"

and who would be this robotic 7? im happy to try one of Gaskell/Lomax/Wheeler. It may be of benefit to the club to start to give these lads some gametime at 7 when Leon comes back and see who sinks and who swims

Spot on for me this. I think it's a good opportunity to see exactly what our young guns are made of.

It's Pryce who has been doing all of that. We are struggling this season because Kyle hasn't done it and Leon is injured.

Agree with this - it's a complete and utter myth that Leon is just a runner and doesn't organise the team.

T'is true that side of Pryce's game has come on, but its still not his real strength and his kicking game is far from the finished article. I'd rather him return to being the dangerman at 2nd receiver rather than the general.

He's got an average at best kicking game though, so he can't dictate a game like a proper all round half back can. That's what we need IMO.

Agreed 100%. Personally I would give Gaskell or Wheeler as much time as they needed at 7 to cement there place as the Number 7 from 2012. I doubt Lomax will be given a run there as I am sure Royce Simmons see's him as the replacement for Wello at Full Back. The money that would have been used on Eastmond wages for next season can be used to get a top quality Left Centre or Loose Forward.
