| Pat Richards (Wigan Warriors)
Adrian Morley (Warrington Wolves)
Sam Tomkins (Wigan Warriors)
Suprised not to see Graham or Roby but from that its got to be Richards.
Wacked a Poll on to see who you think deserves it

| Its a very good achievement by Richards to score so many points, but is it really worthy of Man of Steel? I don't think it is. Ade Gardner was top try scorer in 2008, but was that really worthy of Man Of Steel? No, he was no-where near. Richards is a good player, and is very steady for Wigan but he doesn't deserve the MOS IMO.
Out of the three, i'd give it Morley.

| Shocked that there is no James Roby, he has been our stand out player by a mile and surely in the top 3 of the year?
But I've been convinced Paaaaat will win it for the past 3 months now.
Do we have any odds?

| Quote ="saint billy"Its a very good achievement by Richards to score so many points, but is it really worthy of Man of Steel? '" A good question. The acheivement was no mean feat, and I don't wish to take away anything from Richards, but....
He's the goal kicker for the club that's top of the table, so normally that guy finishes top point scorer.
He's the no 1 winger for the club that finished top, so probability would lead you to expect him to be top try scorer....
Richards is a good winger, but is he a great player? As an opposition fan, does you heart stop when he gets the ball? Does he frustrate you with awesome defence? Does he lead from front? Does he dominate his opposition physically? Does he show a standard of ability that 90% of SL players simply don't have?
Would you take him over a Darren Albert or a Jason Robinson? Would you take him over a Tom Briscoe, if you had the choice?
Full credit to Richards. When they signed him as a centre, he looked like he was going to flop - he's seriously pulled things round. Dream team, top scorer and MOS contender. He certainly deserves a paaaaaat on the back.

Can't say it would bother me. Morley's been fantastic this year and would be a deserved winner, as would the other 2.

Morley and Richards I can understand but I honestly can't see that Tomkins has been that good as to deserve MOS. He is very good don't get me wrong but I don't think he's done enough this season for that award.
When Roby got it as a youngster many said he didn't deserve it but he was ripping teams apart on his own during that season - has Tomkins done that? To the same degree? I wait to be convinced.

Well apart from tackles, offloads and one more try than Sam it's not as if Roby blows Tomkins out of the water.
Compare their try assists, tackle busts or even clean breaks and Sam leads the way. I'd say there stats are near even for the job their asked to do in their respective teams. If anything those stats make it appear as though Roby's more of a defensive player. Which is clearly wrong as he's apt in both attack and defense, as is Tomkins.
Your right in saying Roby's unlucky to miss out, but so is Westwood.

I can, and do, see the point when comparing props (although its still not the be all and end all), but I fail to see what insight your getting from the Tomkins-Roby comparison?

My point is, that robes has, imo had a better season than Sam, so should have made the list ahead of him (i also put it in to wind up some wigan fans too!)

| roby has stood out in a less than dominant team, often coming on as an impact player, where his role by its very nature is to have a brief impact, Sam on the other hand is an 80 minute man and has stood out in a table topping side, there is the difference

Roby has stood out in a team 80 minutes from OT and that reached the semi finals in the cup.
Tomkins has stood out in a team that isn't and didn't.

| Kieran Cunningham is also a big omission IMO.
Picking one of the three, Id go for Richards.....especially for the last minute penalty that his missed against Leeds last week!
