He used his cardboard cut out surely??
I did think it was a bit cheeky to be having him do publicity shots while he still has the major prize to concentrate on but they are truly desperate.

I think it's good marketing. Try to put the past few years behind them and concentrate on the future by using a new coach as the focal point and using the Potter theme,

Given the season we've had with injuries, I'd love us to win the GF for many, many reasons.
One of the more minor ones would be to see how you could contort the truth the explain away how Pathetic Potter managed to drag his walking wounded to the title, having come within inches of winning it the previous year too.

He's a rotten coach. Let's face it, all he's done is take Catalans to a final the year after finishing bottom, then get them in the play-offs and then keep your lot competing at the top through a period where your club has had to deal with major injuries and player exits. The guy's useless. I mean, 2nd in the league and still in with every chance of an Old Trafford victory? What's that supposed to count for?

The logical answer would be that he's currently recovering from injury on the other side of the world. Asking him to fly back for one photo shoot would be a bit inefficient.
The cynical answer is that he's not coming back so they purposefully left him out of it

Just wondered why the board haven't mortgaged the new ground to raise funds to keep him here?
Anyway, its a bit like work; just because I might not be able to stand my boss, doesn't make him a bad boss. I acknoledge that he has done wonders this season with all the handicaps you mention but I just can't take to him.
Mind you this time next year, I'll probably be saying get rid of this sizzler guy as he's useless and come back Harry all is forgiven!

The comment was about him emoting, not coaching. But don't let context get in the way of a good bitch.
And if by some miracle we actually win the Grand Final this year, I'll feel very, very happy, having sat through three losses on the bounce, and will want to hug Paul Wellens (which I always want to do anyway), but it won't change the way I feel about Slick one jot.
I'm looking forward to welcoming Rolls and hoping he brings a damn good conditioning crew with him.

| The Saints Board and the Bulls one get on well (according to Peter Hood) and Hood said Saints are happy for Mick Potter to meet with Peter Hood, and have an input as long as it is either on his day off or on a night etc.
I'm sure our board will have cleared it with yours first!

And therein lies the problem - you've invested so much in criticising the bloke over minutiae (like somehow blaming a Gardner injury on Potter telling him to run into bigger players) that you're blinkered to what he actually brings to the role and the fine job he has done this season.
Complaints about a stilted attack and inability to score points have miraculously transformed into complaints about defence now we are SL's top scorers despite injury havoc amongst the backs all season - without the slightest bit of credit being offered for us being above the Warrington all-stars despite all our problems this year.
Even if we go backwards under Simmons with a stronger squad I doubt you'd give Potter any credit for how he performed in a difficult transition period for any coach.
Try assessing him and the situation he inherited with an open mind - you might just come to different conclusions.

Not really.
The biggest difference in the anti Potter camp to the pro Potter camp (bar the obvious) is that whilst the pro camp can and do accept that he has made mistakes and don't think he's the best thing since sliced bread, the anti camp almost always cannot accept that he has done positive things and pretty much paint him as the right hand man of the devil.

If you looked at my posts from before he arrived here you will see that I was concerned about two things prior to his arrival: discipline and defence. And he hasn't let me down. Both our discipline (in particular ball discipline) and defence have been poorer under Potter. However, you will not admit that because, contrary to the glowing picture of balance you portray yourself as having, your posts simply reflect an opinion that the guy walks on water and can do no wrong.
That training can in fact cause injury, sometimes bone injury (when muscles are not correctly developed - muscles being the protectors of bone), is not my opinion; that is medical fact. Incorrect training can also exhaust players. Over-training leaves them tired come second half and we have consistently looked tired by halfway through the second half this season. I'm sure you will deny all that as well.
Quote Even if we go backwards under Simmons with a stronger squad I doubt you'd give Potter any credit for how he performed in a difficult transition period for any coach.'"
Will we not be in transition next season also? Or will we suddenly have our Ultimate Squad?
We have already gone backwards under Potter. I have mentioned our defence and discipline. Our attack, while sometimes a joy to watch, has also been terrible (last season especially) on occasion and also quite heavily reliant upon the individual skill of certain players, without whom we would not be in second place now. That's not to decry the input of anyone else, but I am not convinced our attack has particularly improved under Potter. And both our attack and defence do not seem to follow the pattern of our injuries. We played truly awful rugby league against Crusaders at the weekend for the whole of the first half when we had exactly the same team as we had had the previous week - a rare moment. Yet logic would suggest that having some continuity and having both a halfback and our hooker and talisman on the field should have signified good ruby league was on its way. Not so. And I'm not talking about the challenge put up by a few of Crusaders' players either. We were just awful. And that isn't the first time we have been like that this season by a long chalk. I don't even want to talk about how our performances last season ended up.
However, I'm sure you'll put all that down to injuries and transition. If it makes you feel better then do so. I am no longer able to think that way and I shall just be glad to see him go. And yes, I do realise that Rolls could end up being worse. Alternatively, he could end up being better. I am very happy to wait and see with an open mind and give him a chance, as I did Potter.
Quote Try assessing him and the situation he inherited with an open mind - you might just come to different conclusions.'"
You mean, try agreeing with you? But I don't. End of story.

Sigh
There's a difference between saying a coach has done a good job in the circumstances and thinking he's JC.
There is even a non-Saints fan on the coach of the year thread on the VT nominating Potter, given how he's dragged Saints to 2nd (so far) in a turbulent season, and a year when people would freely admit Warrington (below us) have been very, very good and relatively healthy.
The only people who seem unwilling to admit he's done well with what he's had this year are those who were knee-jerking against him after one game this season (incidentally, one game after a grand final we very nearly won) - funny that. Here's hoping he leaves on a high and gets a bit of credit.

And there's a difference between giving a coach a chance, keeping an open mind, becoming convinced over time that he isn't doing us much good, and all the drivel you come out with in regard to those of us who aren't at all upset that he's going.
