| Leon Pryce thought to be out for the season, to join Kyle Eastmond if rumours about him requiring an operation are true. Just about signs this season off as a total car crash with no finals and just the possibility of a play off exit to Wigan or Warrington to look forward to.
Then we hear our new star forward for next season has suffered a very serious leg injury.
Then we lose to Leeds in the semi final.
Not the best of days...

Wraps up our season nicely, I'd say!
But you never know. Perhaps we will discover another star halfback in the next few games and go on to storm the battlements of the Theatre of Dreams once more!

| It was a big blow losing Pryce, with Eastmond being out as well you had no pace, no creativity, no organisation and no kicking game in the half backs.
I thought Bentham cained you for large parts in that 2nd half, he let a lot of similar things go for Leeds especially when Jamie Foster amongst other players was constantly being held down on numerous occasions during the game. The turning point for me was when Bentham awarded that try to Danny McGuire from a blatent forward pass from Senior, that gave them momentum and you never quite recovered from that point. Having no half backs was the killer though, it showed.

Was it as blatant as the pass from KC to James Graham that also led to a try?

Saints were holding a comfortable lead at that point when Leeds scored from that forward pass from Senior, Leeds didn't really look like creating a great deal upto that point. They needed a piece of magic from somewhere to get them back into the game and that piece of magic came from neither linesman spotting an obvious forward pass.
Yeh the pass from Cunningham to Graham was forward, nobody would argue against that but Leeds got a massive helping hand to get them back into a game where they looked like they were stuck in neutrel and wern't really going anywhere.

im a wigan fan, so really dont defend saints at all, but the KC pass was lateral. the senior pass was about 2 yrds forward

I think the Senior forward pass was more obvious of the two. Saints need to stop conceding tries from forward passes.

on what planet, is 8 points a comfortable lead in such an open game and with 25 minutes left?
I mean seriously, WTF?
The game changed so much there was no single turning point, though saints had a chance to seal the game but meli chose not to put his winger in for a try.

What was you watching? Seniors maybe, I didn't pay much attention to the re-run tbh, but the KC was at least a foot, backed up by Davies also.
After leaving todays game I said to my old man that we'll have the CC and Saints will win the GF. I dont think Leeds will have it in them to do both as its extremely difficult nowadays. And for me Saints are more than capable of doing Warrington and Wigan in the playoffs. However now that ive heard Pryce might be out for the season Id be surprised if you win anything.

For me the turning point in the game was just before the hour mark. Saints lead 22-14 and are attacking but a player who had aleady show-boated once and nearly put his foot on the dead ball line in the act of scoring when he could have put the ball down 5 seconds earlier decides to go for the tryline when it's not on. When he can't score, he goes lateral for 20 metres and instead of passing to a team mate throws the ball on the floor and it is scooped up by the Rhino's. Less than 90 seconds later it's 22-20.
From a position which could have put Leeds out of the game all of a sudden, it's game on ... Francis Meli you shot your own team in the foot. Time for the pipe and slippers!

Meli always messes up for you in big games against leeds.
I've lost count of his mistakes in the grand finals which have turned it decisively in leeds favour.

Saw Eastmond before the game with a couple of ("hangers on" even had the same fooking hair do as him )
He was hobbling quite badly still so that op may be needed sooner rather than later.

Possibly not, but the timing of that particular mistake and Leeds scoring so quickly afterwards made it a gameturner for me.
