We have room on the cap, and Sydney haven't made the play offs. Did they ever change the rules, to stop players coming in especially for the play offs?

I thought our new import was as a replacement for Gilmour rather than for Talau?

I think it was mentioned that in terms of salary cap, Wheeler was in for Talau, and Soliola for Gilmour.

Although effectively Soliola is a delayed replacement for Talau, unless they decide to move him to second row.

I'm almost certain that rule got changed.

Yeah that was a bit mischievous, but I did leave off an exclamation mark; I am not a monster.

I remember it being discussed, I think when Wire brought over Andrew Johns or Morley. I cannot remember what rules if any were put in place.

I am sure you are right, they must have put some rule in, otherwise the rumour mill would have been buzzing with Saints bringing in Soliola, and other teams looking at short term options.

I think that rule was brought in to stop the Morley/Johns type signings, where a player would join a club for the play-off series only.

This would be more like what we did with Talau in '99. Whether the fact that Sia is already a Saints player from 2010 onwards would make any difference with regards to the rules I don't know.

Course he will be. Wheels and Gidley to keep the centre spot moving, with solly coming in when either are injured. Unless we decide to give wheels a go at 6 at soem stage

soli will be 2nd row next year and with tony thats a ferocious back line! if wheeler gets injured, he'll probably move out and some ashurst/magennis will go to 2nd row. I'm really happy with the squad for next year, [size=150IF[/size we get a good prop

A lot more beef if we managed to sign Bailey too. It would make a huge difference, and another prop would be the icing on the cake.

Bailey is under contract though, I really can't see us signing him.

Is that an opinion or is it based on insider knowledge? I'd quite like to see him dishing out some hits in the second row, but I'd question the wisdom of spending a lot of money on a back rower when it's one of the healthiest areas of our squad.

Just an opinion, but based on where he plays best, i'm not a fan of putting big centres into the 2nd row generally, but i think thats where he'll play most of his games.

Any development on the Brent Kite rumours??
