Thought i would use yhis thread for us to speculate on signings for next year. Now up to June seems to be the time signigs are made for next year.

Gidley - going home, going to finish off at the Knights

Gilmour - in his last year with us, will he be offerd a new deal ?

Cunningham - can his body take another year ?

Long - maybe a one year deal on the cards but will have to improve his form

Meli - is he OOC ?

Sola Soliola - Sydney roosters centre, good signing

Scot Moore - Huddersfield Giants, good young hooker

We could be in for a huge squad change next year imo.

Todays Star seems to think Gidley is off home. They usually get it spot on.

From that list:

KC and Gidley one more year.

Long and Cayless leaving.

Not to fussed about that. Can be a good player on his day.

St.Helens or National?
Nothing is confirmed yet, if it true its a shame. Could easily do another year here if he wants, and i'd imagine he'd be on more money here than Newcastle

If Gidley's going home then we'll need a top drawer right centre (might as well get it out of the way now and say Jamie Lyon).

Add to that a cruel and heartless prop forward and we're rockin'.

Looks like Sola can play Right Centre.

Gidley has already told his team mates and the club he is going home at the end of the season. You would like to think his wage will be paying for Soliola. With Cayless going to, who you would imagine would be on a fair whack, given his status when we signed him, we should have sizeable cap space to sign another top drawer prop. Then we also have Longs wage, which will also be sizeable that we could probably put to better use.

If Gidley is going home, and he doesn't owe us anything if he does, leaves the way clear for wheeler to continue his development at left centre.

Soliola will play right centre next year with Wheeler at left centre. Wheeler continues in this form at left centre he will command the position from now until the end of the season.

I'd let all of those out of contract go (with the excetpion of Meli)

Moore to replace Cunningham

Matty Smith to replace Long

Matty Ashurst to replace Gilmour permanently

Prop. Whoever that may be. Possibly Lynch who IIRC is out of contract.

The only person i'd look to let go would be Cayless. Sign a big forward to replace him and also maybe a fast outside back to add some compeition and a little pace to the side. The youngsters can then continue to learn from the likes of Long and Cunningham for another season, before finally taking over from them permanently when they retire. I don't think Gidley will go home either, another season here.

I'd agree with this and also recall Smith, he could easily cover 6/7/9

If this happened, you would have to think we would have enough on the cap to sign 2 more players

But does he want to be just cover?

Its not perfect, but i would rotate him and Eastmond(barring excetional form), both given the knowledge that winner takes all at the end of the season. I also think that Eastmond could do a job a fullback when wello hangs up his boots.

Id be suprised if there wasnt a large chunk of money around.
All of the players i named would from reputation be on reasonably large wage and releasing 4 of them would provide us with some money

Not too old to make 50-60 tackles a game though.

We have Wilkin to do that job.

We need the hard yards down the middle. A prop who will get us valuable metres when we look tired or off our game.

Nathan Hindmarsh is not that type of player imo.
