This guy was a "DUDE". Sensational from the saints board to get this guy on board for a short stint. Wasnt it due to us letting Judas go to bankstown, and in return we got Jarrod? My word he was awesome, pity his career was ruined with that nasty spear tackle.

Good player. A long term stint from him would have been nice

92/93 I'm having a guess at.

This was the only rugby match I have stood in my usual spec and watched in a suit and tie. I was the godfather at my Goddaughters christening and had to sneek off from the Bull for an hour and half before returning for the boiled ham butties and qiuche. Luckily i got away with it.

The game was played on 18th October 1992.

Saints lost McCracken, Ropati, Connolly and Ward after that season and replaced them with Adam Fogarty, Andy Dannatt, and Mark Elia with Phil Veivers moving to centre.

Showed the wisdom of the board in operation back then.

What a game of rugby that was. I was only a nipper but still remember that game with awe. Fantastic spectacle.

McCracken was one hard b******.

Inspired signing by the board on a short term contract. Wish we could have had him for longer too.

I remember in Saints vs Wigan games from that year, McCracken would pummel Offiah every time he touched the ball. Offiah would poo his kecks if anyone passed to him and couldn't get rid of the ball quick enough.

Skerret hit him with a elbow, skerret sent off... Guess who took the next drive in after the tap.... Jarrod McCracken, straight into Cowie & Platt..

Wasn't a bad side that year ... we finished equal on points with Wigan in 92-3. The few years following were pretty awful though.

So, this was THE game that started the ding dong bell chants? No wonder I was doubting my memory its the only Saints-wigan game of that year I havnt got

it was Steve Hampson who got the special "private" treatment (and it was the day after boxing day

). also in that game, a fight broke out after a kick down field - McCracken ran the ball back 60m straight to where the fight was, dropped the ball and got stuck in.

golden days....we didnt win anything, but you could always guarantee a derby day fight.

We won the Premiership that season and the Charity Shield.
