| This game is being played today and classed as a U16 game. Congratulations to Kane Ditchfield and Olly Davies who have both been picked despite being a year younger. The only 2 players to have been picked from the U15 lot that travelled and both are on Saints Scholarships.
Lewis Galbraith and Andre Savelio will also play from our U16's.

| Lewis Galbraith and Andre Saveli are both down to play France today, whereas Kane and Olly are playing Wales. Looks like two teams have been picked out of the 38 man squad.
Jake Shorrocks and Olly Gildart are both down to play in the Wales game, they're both a year younger and are both at Wigan. There's one or two glaring omissions in the squad if you ask me.
One lad to watch in my opinion is Zak Dewhirst, a Yorkshire lad who's at Warrington. Strong as an ox prop, with tremendous skills. I expect him to have a field day against Wales.

| Jake Sharocks and Oliver Gildart never played. Both back up and it shows why I get frustrated with the set up of our country. There is a lad running about every week who is miles ahead of Jake in terms of Quality and outplayes him everytime they cone up against each other. Yet one gets 18th man for England while the superior one gets overlooked completely. It absolutely stinks.
PS. I have no relatives playing the game so I have no bias.

Ive not seen Hampshire yet with him being from Yorkshire but i was very impressed with George Williams at last years U15 scholarship games. Very good step and a decent organiser.
Interesting to note that many of the lads in the England camp are very un-happy at the fact they have not had a look in, in there originall positions. One of the lads who was released from camp is a fantastic half back from Hull who everybody believed was a shoe in for the position with Hampshire. Instead he got 15 minutes at hooker against France and is now dropped. The game is riddled with bias.
This game is classes as U16 but there is 1 U15 left in the England squad and is part of the France game (20 players have been picked but only 17 will play, they find out a hour before kick off) and that player is Kane Ditchfield a awesome talent who left Warrington scholarship for Saints this year.
Good luck lads.

| I was talking to a parent of one of the lads who played V France last week and he said that the French lads were a lot bigger .He actually wondered about their age group.
I may have a ride over to Bradford this afternoon, if I do I'll post the score later.

If you do go I'll probably nip into the Odsal Top pub for a swift beer around 1:45. Come and have a chat.
I've decided that I am going to go.
I'm taking Bilko with me, I'm sure if I buy him a beer he will do an excellent match report.

Yes, he scored two tries and set up two others today. I'm sure Bilko will be giving a report, probably on the Wigan board (he'd better as pinched my team sheet )

The lad in question is injured and I think will miss Saints' 1st 3 scholarship games. But you are definitely right should be in the England squad

| Bilkos's report stolen from the Wigan site.
[urlhttp://viewtopic.php?f=28&t=492290[/url
Quote ="Bilko"After the first test had finished 19-18, I was expecting this to be tight game but it was the exact opposite. England really ripped the French apart with some classy rugby I though.
It was the French who started better though with a try after just 4 minutes from Loose Forward Karim Madani but the conversion missed.
The French had a bigger looking pack on the eye but the English certainly put themselves about. Although we had one forward who had a shocking mullet haircut with a headband! Seriously I don't want to see anything like that on a rugby field again, either get it cut or go to your room!
After that opening gambit from the French it became a walk over for England. Jordan Harper, Josh Casey, George Williams, Greg Richards, Ryan Hampshire and Brad Day all claiming first half tries with the only response from France coming right on half time from Alan Torreilles. That left the score 34-8 to England at half time with Lewis Tierney kicking all but the first conversion.
The French did improve second half and England were a bit less expansive, perhaps because the strong wind was now against them. The first try of the half saw a brilliant out the back door pass from Hampshire send Jordan Baldwinson over.
France got another try back after captain Charles Bouzinac scored after charging down a kick. But although the try scoring wasn't as flowing from England second half they did claim three more before full time with Casey and Hampshire both claiming a second try whilst Alex Mellor scored the final effort six minutes from time.
England 58
Tries: Jordan Harper, Josh Casey 2, George Williams, Greg Richards, Ryan Hampshire 2, Brad Day, Jordan Baldwinson, Alex Mellor
Goals: Lewis Tierney 8, George Williams 1
France 14
Tries:Karim Madani, Alan Torreilles, Charles Bouzinac
Goals: Alan Torreilles 1
(Note: Match was played 35 mins each way as standard for Under 16s level).

He made quite an impact when he came on. The hooker Maneely was also good. It was quite noticeable that England improved when he came back for his second spell and that allowed Williams to move back to scum half.
